Ladies Ldn to Brighton Ride - Saturday 1st October

Well I know that...that's why I'm a bit scared....hahahaha

Oh by the way, I'm assuming there will be some pub action when you ladies and gents (boo!) get back to London. Could somebody drop me a text and tell me what is going on closer to the time, I'll pop along for a pint or two once I've got back from St M.

Yeah, it's not much of a ladies ride anymore is it? Oh well, I'm happy with that as long as people realise it's a fun, social, waiting for everyone paced ride.

Hope more ladies get involved though cos it'd be good to see more girls out on rides generally, eh?

I guess that was always going to be the risk of putting it on the main rides thread and opening it up.

I wonder why more ladies aren't coming? I'm sure it would be a really fun ride ladies only even with low numbers!

For me it's still a ladies ride! I'm really looking forward to it and I'm even considering wearing a skirt on top of my cycling pants in attempt of making our ride as much girly as possible ha!

Anyway I don't think it's men signing up that's putting women off; more the fact that not that many women actively use this forum. The only way you'd get more is by pushing it out elsewhere; targeted mailshots to female LCC members, that kind of thing. Or you could go the whole hog and set up a whole programme of women's rides and flyer women only bike shop evenings, social media, spin classes at gyms.

I should probably be doing this for the afterworkers but working full-time, riding bikes and going to the pub a lot seems to take up a lot of time.

The Clacton ride was perfect, the whole silly 'fixed/singlespeed only' rules actually work, forcing people to simply stick together at a decent pace (15mph);
