Sorry ladies for the massive thread derail, but any advice on the best/quickest route would be great, mainly doing this ride to avoid getting the train.

I've seen the hills in Yorkshire..you'll be fine.
This is the route we did last year, first hill has no traffic on so you can take your time, middle hill is Turners - short and sharp and theres a pub at the top, and then there is
mount doomDitchling, you'll know when you see it.I got up all of them with my alfine 8, although i had to stop a few times on Bitchling - but thats due to fitness more than anything else. Theres one annoying steep bit on Ditchling that the fixed riders might lose momentum on, but apart from that its ok, plus there is usually an ice cream van at the top, it feels harder because its at the end.

I'm not sure that there are many forumengers who could ride the Reigate/Turners/Ditchling route to Brighton at an average speed of even 20mph.
I did this at race pace once. It took 2h45m, which is about 20mph average. Could hardly stand up straight by the end of it.

Terrible news. Work are understaffed for an event that weekend and have asked me to do it, and because I can't work the rest of that week because of my college inductions I can't really say no. Sumo can't get the day off because too many other people have already booked it off. Striped socks is just a massive wuss and claims to have too many things on that day.
Sincere apologies everyone :(

I doubt she ever seriously was going to. She was probably only saying it to try and seem hardcore/impress me. I'm going to drown her in her own vagina sand.
