  • well the stickers came off nice and easy with the hairdryer, I'd been hoping to find the paint had survived underneath but alas it's scratched and chipped up as well. So guess it's getting a full respray con rattlecan. (but a decent one no mcrowe)

  • I need a new BB. If i haz Miche Primato Cranks and BB can i assume it will be a 107mm axle or do i have to remove the cranks and check? Also will my shimano BB tool work with it?

  • will the sram omnium cranks work with a goldtech hub to produce a decent chainline?

i have the omniums with on one hubs and it is bang on. it may be a mm out with a goldtech but likely to be ok

  • I want to learn Swedish from scratch, and would like to become at least casually conversant eventually. Can anyone recommend any good (and hopefully free/very cheap) online language courses. I was looking at rosetta stone and others but they cost hundreds, even for the basic level. I'd have thought that somewhere there would be a great open source language resource but I don't know where to look.

Oh, and I recently acquired a kindle so if it worked on that then that would be ace but not vital.

i need to do this too so if you come across any info please let me know.

so if i put in a 1mm spacer at the bb i may be able to refine the chainline?

i have a spacer left over from the chris king BB i installed on my MTB.

long term all my bikes will have CK bb's, now if only they made track hubs, every bearing on my bikes would come from them

  • yes yes yes

  • Must be trying to do his 3 posts to get out the nursery.

I don't think you can do that with Omniums (or any other GXP crank/BB), because the NDS crank will hit the bearing as you tighten it onto the axle and create excessive preload.

  • Are there any nice front loading quill stems?

  • Not really. Crystemblue and Frog are the most stylish, various MTB style welded jobs from ITM, Salsa, Profile etc are ugly but effective.

  • There are also some BMX ones, but short reach and for risers only (22.2mm).

  • I love magic eye pics. Although this one may be more for the nay sayers.

That is bloody clever, how the FUCK does it work?!

Depends on how many shims you've got between the BB shell and the cups, obviously. You might be able to move things around a bit by shimming one side in preference to the other.

For what it's worth, I seem to think that the SRAM GXP single speed cranks may have a slightly different chainline, which might work a little better with the Goldtecs.

This pattern of words which forms the phrase is repeated on both sides, so when it merges it looks 3D. Some letters are missing and when it's all aligned they form a word but don't overlap. Roughly.

    Magnets…

  • Hmm. Magners.

What shims? The only shims on normal GXP installs are when fitting MTB cranks to frames with 68mm BB shells.

thats simply wrong though, the crank comes with 2 spacers so you can adjust the chainline.

i run mine without either spacer and the chainline is dead on 42mm.

i had read the sram manual and saw that there were no shims, but then keep reading users who mention theirs came with shims or that they have used shims

i posted on his blog today and he assured me he has actually tried a few different spacers on his BB to move the chain line around a little

it does not appear to be like the Shimano external bb cranks with the little clip part, to retain hold the cranks at a specific distance, clearly you could not shim the Shimano cranks in or out but it appears there is a little play with the Sram ones
