Black Magic Rainbow or whatever you name your bags nowadays, youre a funny dude. thanks for all the words supporting my argument that the bikes are completely useless for the average human.
If any of us on here were 'average humans' we wouldn't be arguing through a computer screen with other sad bikey twats now would we?

Those bicycle are completely useless for the average human too;
Big word from someone who hasn't ridden a snowbike before.

Even in ye olde London during last winters snow, my (not as) fat 2.4 Ralphs afforded me the opportunity to enjoy the weather and have a pootle along the tow paths, all while not getting my feet cold or wet. I was the only one out, no pedestrians, no cars, and definitely no other cyclists... a very rare privilege in London.

London...a pootle along the tow paths
Three inches of snow on a hard and flat substrate is not SnowBike territory, is it?
2.3" Conti Vertical Pro worked OK even out here in the sticks where the snow lay twice as deep, although there were bits where I'm sure the extra flotation of 4" tyres would have made life easier.

1+
The snow wasn't deep enough to required a snowbike, but the 2.35" of the slick tyres make riding on the very thin snow a joy, a lots easier after lowering the pressure down to 15psi compare to the year before that on a 700c bicycle with 25c tyres.
After riding through the thin snow, I can only imaging how much better a snowbike would be in proper condition.

Twas more that 3 inches (said the actor to the bishop) down along the towpaths, but definitely not anything near fat bike territory, granted. I've found that Although Schwalbe state Ralphs are a 2.4, I think they measure up a tad fatter volume wise.

the kind of guy that buys MSR stoves and doesn't use them.
If there is one of these supposed people on here, please may I have your unused msr stove (if it's a multifuel one anyway) as I'm desperate for one. Cheers eh.

you obviously haven't tried it ;)
Those heavy snowfalls of last winter in London were kinda of a turn off, (to me), to be looking at it with a smile... I dunno, maybe I'd change my mind on a different set.
It's like normal mtbing but if you get it all wrong it hurts less and you end up laughing because you're 3ft deep in snow. When you're actually trying to get from A>B it's not so funny though
My point exactly, but I do see the funny side...
BTW, my 'question' was, as usual, not that serious :>) but let's all bite.
Mate, were I live ...
For obvious reasons I wasn't even thinking of you. You don't count. ;)
The question is, why not?
I'd love to give it a try, sure it may be hard work, sure it'll be bloody cold, sure it's diffcuilt to see.
But is it a challenge? fuck yeah.
"Why do you want to climb Mount Everest?"
"Because it's there".
Thanks Mr.Edvans, thanks for enlightening me.

I agree...enough petty arguing.
Let's stick with posting bikes that we ALL agree are pornworthy! -

The "average" human would not have much use for this either.Rear rack, and some clip on guards, and its a year round commuter.
-
• #52043
FTR even if I build a fatbike. I'll winter commute on thinnish 42mm studded tyres. On maintained roads they cut throught the loose stuff so the studs can bite into the icey road below.
That was fun. Carry with the porn folks.

If I had to commute in it and then HAVE to be clean & stink free by the end, snow (or more like slush) would maybe feel slightly less appealing. I live in the northern wastelands where we have mountains, and forests, and deserted tracks, and when the snow falls (even at night) I'm the first out in it. Love the stuff.
SNOW? >>> Stick the lights on bike, base layer + mtb cloths + waterproof = happy as pig in muck.
And love night riding too, road night riding doesnt sound as appealing, but MTB up on the fells, a good set of lights, plenty of spare gear and soup in thermos in bottle cage; I would opt for that over a night 'in' with the GF lol (and hope she does not read).BTW when it snows or is icey I do NOTHING to my MTB. Its fine as is.

^^ that merckx is not team edition, so not porn worthy

Not a team but NOS from 1992 isn't so easy to find...
Look at this one, carbon Eddy Merckx track frame shooted ( by myself ) at the Eddy Merckx factory next to Brussels. Just one and tested by Eddy himself.

• #52049
haha..thats the generic chinese track frame
http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/212737830/carbon_track_frame.html
-
• #52050
Not exactly the same than those chinese frames. I know that tons of bike ( like Colossi, Cinelli, Merckx,... ) are produced in China. This prototype have better and differet details than the generic.
After some research, it seems more to be a COBRA ( -> http://www.euroasiaimports.net/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=16909&idcategory=2205 ) but with some special difference on the drop outs and on the fork. The fork is full carbon and not a mix alu/carbon like on all generic frames.
The flakes of the carbon are also verry verry smaller than the generic chinese ones. The men who worked on this project a few yaers ago at the former Merckx factory don't work there anymore at the Merckx, so nobody into the current Project Management Service at Merckx can tell me all the story about this frame.
ok i'm dropping it now. i had a laugh at my last post.
