  • Yeah right, and you reckon that's real?! A £1,200 strap coming in a bit of selophane??

I have seen used ones go for about £400/500 but they hardly pop up

  • Hmmm, this:

    Or this:

Both by famous designers, both beautiful watches. But which do you prefer and why?

Apol's for the quote/re-post but I'm surprised nobody on this thread has any opinions or thoughts about either of these watches. Except for hippy of course who'll probably say they're incredibly plain and dull ;)

  • First one.

  • Both. :)

  • i like the simplicity of the first one but white dials are ''oh so chic'' (an ex who had a french accent told me once). the blocks on the white dial spoil it for me. what i guess i am saying is i would like the first one with a white dial but i guess its not possible so .........

  • Good views chaps! I like the first one too but also the second, I is torn. Funny how they are both born of post-war design the first German and heavily Bauhaus influenced while the second Japanese and also influenced by the same aesthetics of Bauhaus but without total slavery to the movement. Again speaking of movements - the first is Swiss while the second is Japanese and nothing to decide between them in terms of performance except in the Seiko you can see the movement through a glass back (this pleases my inner watch nerd) but the back of the Junghans is solid.

There is also this brown/mustard version that's maybe a little too 'look at me I'm a designer/bohemian' that I quite like but perhaps not as much as the crispness and pure functionality of the white face black strap model:

  • Loving the Junghans, very clean.

I suppose my first post might as well be about something I'm passionate about.
Here's a quick snap of some beer bottles...

  • I have a Junghans. It's nice.

  • Nice analog collection Furbi.

  • Nice analog collection Furbi.

Good to see Furbi, cheers :)

Speaking of collections have any of us actually posted entire collections on this thread, i.e. every watch we currently own or consider part of our collection?

Would be really nice to see what different posters here have, regardless of how small, large, expensive, inexpensive, the collection is. It shouldn't be about showing off, more about simply showing - maybe with a few brief details about each piece like sentimental value or origins if it's something rare or unusual. What do the rest of you think and who's brave enough to be the first to post their collection?!

  • Cheers for the compliments - no love for the mighty G sad panda face ;)

That's my collection right there. I've owned a lot of fashion watches (ie. Diesel, Breil, etc.) but came to the realisation earlier this year that I might as well put the money towards a quality watch.

The first one was the Tag and as most you will know, it's a very slippery slope and getting paid for a freelance gig in one go meant I purchased all the above in the last two months or so.

Current grail is a PAM 343 (Panerai Radiomir Regatta):

  • Now that ^ is beautiful. I can totally see the attraction.

However, we should all post up our current collections I can't believe this hasn't happened yet on this thread when a tinsy bit of 'show off' is what it's all about when wearing a really nice kettle (as Pisti would say). Yet we're all being a bit in the kitchen at a party...

Just seen this thread another of my obsessions is watches and yes I do change the straps

KC was brave enough to do it last year.

  • put this together in 2000, made out of 3 watches and a few custom parts.

I believe I did my entire collection, two years ago :)

  • and i did my swatch collection a while back when the inventor passed away.

  • this is mine

  • nice marathon Rik, you want to get the glass polished, or do it yourself

  • do you know of a polisher and how much do they charge? or how can i do it myself?

  • the problem with the marathon is that the glass is not a glass if not plastic.... it will popolished all the same

  • the displex is meant for plastic

  • cheers for that. things that go wrong when your tipsy and fall off your bicycle :-(

  • hehe, that's why I got a custom made sapphire :)

hope it works, brasso is supposed to be pretty good to, and some toothpastes

    good luck

Well I have an inexpensive collection, though I don't have photos of all of it. The photos are mostly themed, and I've not included the calibre photos...
