  • Great ride last night, very much enjoyed it. Great to see everyone, shame to miss Sam, Tim, BMMF and Sean.

Note to Jonny, jump off at B hill was a good un. I headed NW and soon ended up in Sydenham which meant a wee slog over the hill into CP and down to home. A SW direction would have been slightly easier. Good to know now though.

  • sounds like the internal map of south london is coming together sam. i know you wouldn't have grumbled about another hill dude

dave4 - hard to call it dude. we won't be rushing round as want to time being able to get the chain ferry in east cowes. also, not sure what time you will be allowed to take your bike on the train back to london.

these deluxes are best enjoyed without the pressure of having to be at work the next day.

  • Chain Ferry runs from 5am
Bikes cannot arrive in London before 10am

Got day off, need permission from her indoors

    TRAIN NEWS:
I am currently checking ticket prices. on national rail enquires there are tickets at £7.50 single for the 20:02 arr at 22:05 in time for 22:15 ferry with built in slippage for the 23:15 ferry. and return jouney single for same price at midday on weds which would give people time to have breakfast and relax into a G. unfortunately I can't see why it won't let me buy more than one at a time or i would buy 6 in now.
even better on Southern are tickets for £5.55 singles same trains.
Even better they seem to do super group deals which include 5 people travelling for £15 single or ten people for £20 single. that s 2 pounds each in english money. fuck yeah.

    need to do more research

  • FUCK YEAH!!!

10 tickets booked return for total of 40 pounds. that's 4 pounds each if we get ten people.
train 20:02 from lon victoria arr port har 22:05 onto ferry 22:15 get in pub for drink
train 12:12 from port har arr lon vic 14:16

you have to be on those trains but that is a bargain unheralded in modern times. I love Southern trains.
so if finances were an issue that must help out. ferry is about 25 pounds. could get the whole day inc breakfast for 40 to 50 pounds. Even your parents would be hard pressed to remember a time you could have so much fun so cheaply. roll the fuck up.

  • of course more than ten people can sign up but you'll have to sort your own tickets out. there were plenty of cheap deals on there as of tonight

  • Sorry all for blowing out, making navigation a bit tricky, especially the closed road bit around Kemsing. I get the tomato soup gag. I think.

Felt a bit better this afternoon so went out at 7pm to do Kent 1 in reverse on my own. Well, sort of Kent 1, I picked it up and left it again in Ightham, only bit I didn't do was the section between Eynsford and the Cray. I thought Botsom was a piece of piss. Until I reached the final third. Amazing how quickly Exedown seemed to be over compared to going in the opposite direction. 10 seconds from top corner to bottom one??

Anyway, here's a couple of photos. First one is on Bower Lane just before the steep final section into Eynsford. To the right of the pilon is Docklands, to the left is the Shard. The second one is on the white road near the bottom of Botsom. That is all.

  • Thanks for the ride last night everyone. Had an awesome time and it was really good to meet everyone. I'd like to echo Jonny and thank BenJam and Texas for sweeping up at the back - that would have been me! And to Des for the loan of the light. Hope to join you for another ride soon.

  • awesome work Tim, and nice one Sam

  • Must get Wednesday childcare sorted....

  • Deluxe Trivia: £25 may seem a lot for a short, simple crossing. But the IOW crossing is one of the most expensive strips of water per mile to cross in the world. It makes the Suez Canel look cheap. Now that is something Britain and the TNRC can be proud of!

  • great work on the tickets tim.
    can i start getting excited?

  • Hell yeah, I'm getting excited and I still haven't asked the boss for the day off. He's a bit shouty this morning so gonna have to time it right. Otherwise one of you lot will have to pretend to be my doctor when I phone in sick on Wednesday morning.

  • "Hello middleofnowhere's boss. Yes. That's right, he won't be in today. Mild case of the abdabs. In the stomach region. Hellishly messy. No, best not to talk about it. Floating. Green. Fatty. Oh, sorry, I wasn't supposed to talk about it. Terribly messy. Projectile. What's that? Yes, you must be very busy, are you ok? You sound a bit, eww, what was that? Ah, thought it sounded familiar. OK. Well, I think you should check in with your Doctor as well"
