Are you on dial-up, hippy? 30 minutes online a day.
I've been drinking fairly solidly for the last month. Posting is fitted in in the time window before bed as I try to sober up and avoid a hangover. I think I'll just get the GBBF done and that will be it for a while.

Where to buy pure acetone in the EC1/2 area on my lunchbreak?

I can't for the life of me get my saddle to sit level in the bontrager xlite carbon seat post. It's one of the models with just the one bolt to clamp the saddle. It seems like only 1 saddle rail wants to fit. Any tips?

Any chemist should do it.
It won't be pure though. 99% at best. They put additives in to stop people cooking up various illegal drugs with it.

I've had a numb fingertip for about a month now.
Mine was caused by poor handlebar position.
It doesn't hurt and is only numb in a very small area so I'm just going to wait it out and see if it gets better.
My right ring finger went numb for about two weeks when i cycled through France last year. It should right itself, as Tiswas said, it's a compressed Ulnar nerve.

^Would that not be your natural English reaction to being surrounded by so many Forruns, to give them all the finger?
Repressing that urge must have caused considerable strain, hence the pain.

True, Forruns do usually bring me out in a rash.
To be fair though, I was surprised and delighted with how much more considerate French drivers are around cyclists (including lorry drivers). I'm taking my bike to Spain in two weeks so i'm hoping they are the same...

The good thing is, there are always Polish lorry racing drivers to balance things out. To remind us how we hate lorries.

Don't expect such good treatment. My Spanish flatmate in Madrid rode her bike to and from work the entire year she lived in London and gave it up when she went back to Madrid, saying drivers are terrible. Maybe that's only Madrid? There WERE only about three cyclists there the whole 3 months I stayed there, though there was at least one bike shop.

Thinking about a crankset for a touring (next year)/cx/winter bike. It's going to be this mtb one I think, and the one I'm looking at has a 44t outer. With a 11-32t cassette will that be enough?
Sheldon says 107.0 - 18.4 gear inches. My concern is that 48t seems to be the most commonly recommended outer rings, and I don't actually want to buy additional ones.
Equally if anyone has any other suggestions for moderately prices suitable cranksets with an external BB, please let me know.
Cheers.

right pinky has been numb since the dynamo also getting pins an needles in the finger next to it quite frequently. when i say numb when i touch things feels bigger than it is like sort of when you get a dead foot because youve been sitting on it too long.
Compressed ulnar nerve sounds about right. Could be from the hand, or from the elbow or shoulder if you were squinched tight in your shoulders/upper chest/neck area for a while.

I ride with fast dudes, so ride a lot harder and faster than other people I know, but have been slowing down when I'm by myself to try to concentrate on how I move my feet through the pedal stroke and trying to use my legs instead of my lower back when going up inclines (Cedars is not a hill, but Latchmere Road is). I'd like to get in some more aerobic exercise, so how are turbos not good for that? while watching the telly b/c I hate the gym but want a similar kind of exercise.
I'm on 46 x 19.
Neil, I will take that turbo of yours to try it out, thanks!
Other than that, does the one I linked to seem like a good price/place to start?
Here it is again, for reference:
http://www.evanscycles.com/products/tacx/cycle-force-1-excel-turbo-trainer-ec025172Turbo is great for aerobic fitness whilst watching the telly :)
If you're climbing seated, slowish cadence, try thinking about pedalling from the glute, and 'stretching' the crank at the bottom of the pedalstroke. If you're spinning very quickly seated, and losing form, sometimes it helps to briefly think about the action of lifting your knees - this tends to result in better unweighting of the pedals on the upstroke.

Another question, just to check my understanding...
If I get one of these fugly stems, can I set it up to give me a range of lengths?
- ie if I slam it right down, and then angle it upwards the effective "length" of the stem will decrease. Right? Equally if I raise it and then angel it fwd, I'll get a longer stem. Right?
I basically want a look ergo, to help find the right reach for different bikes, but without paying top dollar.

Yes, thank you, I've come to that conclusion myself after reading a few suggestions on here. I try to get most of my power from flexion/extension at the hip, stabilising the ankle and using calves as an ancillary not primary for pulling action.I noticed that my hips rock a bit when I do this, but watching roadies who seem to have their thing down, I notice them doing this, too.
Oh, and I'm scared of downhills after a tumble, so am wearing away my brake pads on Latchmere Road. : (

Um, yes, as long if jacking it up you have enough quill sticking into the steerer to make it safe (edit, you've got mimimum insertion plus 110mm to play with, should be plenty.)
Obviously you can only go as long as the max reach at 0 degrees (unlike an ergo which can actually articulate forward). Another thing to perhaps query is that you can angle down the full 60 degrees as well as up? Otherwise if you want to try very short you could be stuck with a very high stem.
If all that works, pythagoras says that if you get the 120mm stem you should be able to adjust the reach between 60mm and 120mm.

When i upload a photo onto here it just comes onto a thumb nail. How can i get it big on the page like others do?
I had a case of the old badger hand for about 2 weeks when I cycled to Paris and back last year. Since then I've paid for a bicycle fit and don't tend to get any numbness at all. I also fucked my knees on that trip because I hadn't had a bike fit.
