August would be good, but no point having an indoor festival in summer.
My missus told me I've been to that place you're on about in the jewellery quarter. Nice and big and open, but I can't remember the floors being particularly smooth. Any chance I could come along when you're scoping it out as I've played on a few indoor courts and slippy ones are shit.

Nah most of it will be outside, certain bits due to licensing, noise and age limits will have to be inside though.
Yeah course, as soon as I know anymore I'll drop you a line.

Space 2 viewing this week, should have space for two courts and i've been chatting with london about having our National Series leg in october.
Defo mini tournament in summer tho! I say we have it as a throw in tourney to encourage new people.

If we do have to pay for space i think £15 per team should cover it.Defo mini tournament in summer tho! I say we have it as a throw in tourney to encourage new people.

Hmm, dunno. Not sure many people will want to travel for non-team practice. New people can man up and form teams of their own.

Great news.
That last bit I don't understand? Encourage newish players or new people who've never played before? The latter wouldn't make sense. I think I'm agreeing with Dan in that case.
Dates confirmed today for Birmingham Festival of Cycling are 19-21st August.

I don't really mean this. What I mean is that a tournament is not a good time to start playing polo. It's a good time to inspire people to start playing, or play more frequently.
People like Stu, Si, Rob, MG etc can form throw-in teams.

Not beginners, new players (inc other cities). I think it'll be good to mix stuff up i'm sure if we advertise it people will come.

In an ideal world, we could do both! Throw ins in the morning and swiss/round robin for teams in the avo/next day. Depends on no of teams and availability really.
Nice video. Nicking it. I'd like to do one of those!

What happened to the London Polo exhibition?

Comments and feedback from most tournaments are that people want fewer mixed-ability games (so swiss rounds are good), and more time for team games.
People play mixed up, throw-in games 1-3 times a week in their own cities. Why travel to play ugly games with people you don't know? Tournaments are for teams. Small tournaments are for teams to practice. Our one-day thing last year was really good, I thought. We should aim for something like that. Something small (around 8 teams) means that people get loads of court time too, which is always popular, and takes account of our court being shit for spectating.

There are plenty of National Series tourneys this summer for team games.
Maybe something new then:- 4v4, bench minor, 24hr polo, horses?
Something to spice it up. -

Bench minor would be fun, I might actually get to play then.
Spice it up made me laugh.

Minimum 1 lady per team.

I say minimum two
Brilliant. That pallet place sounded promising? Also, when EXYZT goes in August there will be all that left over wood. I'm currently working on a three day cycling festival at the end of August so a small tourney would be good then.
