Sorry, I am out. I think I'll still be at work when you arrive at Otford. That's two on the spin I've had to bail on. Not happy.

  • 47 x 18

  • 48x19 here

but no friends will come to the gig I want to go to. So now I'm wishing I was coming after all.

  • having my usual Tuesday afternoon slump....can someone shout at me to ensure I get my ass out on the ride? fanx

skully - not to late to join in...

  • but trains leave too early for me: Mrs Skully at Chelsea Flower Show, won't be back in time. Think I might just go to gig anyway ... temporarily alone

  • 47 x 18

Same here jaygee. A lovely gear.

  • Sam, its a shame but as I have been telling myself, there are plenty of Tuesdays in TNRC 2011,
I am still ok to go and happy to lead tonight, I may be a little late though as I have to change a nappy first but it will be fine...

    clintsmoker is rolling out.

  • Same here jaygee. A lovely gear.

Might be a bit spinny for Chingford. I wish I'd brought my full range of gears. I love riding my Roberts. Annoying Ratchet™ or not.

  • Just realised I am gonna miss the Tapas dinner at Chingford, Doh.

  • ^^won't be too spinny. It's not a race tonight. Nice flowing spin on the way out (for the most) part, and a quiet gentle return. Anything between 60" and 72" should work, unless you have issues.

it's funny you've never mentioned that...

don't be fooled by the profile, chingford has various surfaces so it is not all about the fast tarmac blasting (although there are some awsome sections of that). let some air out your tyres too. i would say sub 100 is best (i didn't and 120 was too high),

i rode 48x19 (GG / GoC) and it was sweeeeet. that's about 67GI.

    enjoy!

  • For anyone still reading the thread prior to the Chingford Grand Depart, to reiterate:

    • I'll lead on my own, so please stay behind, including on descents, even if I lift the pace.

    • Ride 2 abreast behind me if you want, but be ready for quite a lot of singling up.

    • Be bold and assertive if you need to stop/slow/whatever - Sean will be at the back, and Jonny will be floating around the middle, so there's no reason for messages not to get conveyed along the line.

    • Follow the line of the rider/s in front of you, but maintain ultimate responsibility for your decisions at junctions or in the face of strange holes/obstacles.

    • Be considerate to nocturnal towpath users & canal dwellers; and randoms wandering around parks and forests in the dark.

    Thanks, m'kay.

    How big is a Ratchet?

It's a bit bigger than a mouse shit!

(My driving instructor gave me that timeless beauty. The twunt also made me do the test in his crappy Nissan Sunny with impossible steering! Failed)

  • have fun, such a nice day for it!

Gav86 I will bring the light but no bracket (I assume you have a bracket) if you decide to roll out tonight.

  • just setting off, someone bring some leccy tape for me

    Out!

  • Late leaving work. On my way to Victoria. If I'm there I'm there, if I'm not then enjoy.

  • Got out of work at 6:35pm, shame that I need to go home and get my bike first. Thought about hanging around for you guys at Victoria, but I'd rather be home half an hour earlier.

Next time it's in Kent I might have to ride to work in the morning. Would have to leave my house at 6am though!

Have a good ride south and north peeps!
