  • Well? Bring it with you tomorrow. I'll bring mine and we can be quietly superior when others (scoot) are cold and haven't bought their batwing jackets.

It arrived to work yesterday. And ohmygod. I think I'm actually in love with it - worth every flippin' penny. Have barely taken it off since yesterday...am wearing it now!

I can't make ladies drink tomorrow though (am off to an insane megarave in a down at heel holiday park for 3 days) so we'll have to look smug and snug together another day. Really want to take it to bangface with me, but the risk of losing it is just too high/upsetting to consider!

  • yeah, do not take it to something like that. murphy's law says it will be gone by the end. and that is just not something to risk!!

  • It's already been hung up and out of reach of my already ridiculously big suitcase....I am SO shit at packing light ...

  • VeeVee! Where did you get those Mavic 3/4? I've got the shorts version, and they are by far and away the most comfortable shorts I've ever had! Like you say, comfortable waist (sort front, not digging in elastic) and the mesh in the back means you don't get a super sweaty lower back (which is problem for me, it seems to be the hottest part of my body for some reason! I really want some 3/4. My long thighs seem to make shorts+knee/leg warmer combo difficult.

On the bag front, I don't seem to have the boob problem (and they're not little! haha), but I think I seem to wear my messenger bag much higher than most girls? I wear the strap across the top of my boobs, which also means it seems to move around less? I don't get on with backpacks on the bike, they dig into my arms/shoulders.

One last thing, I just got a couple of Twin Six jerseys from alwaysriding.co.uk (who are really nice to deal with, and gave me a discount for no reason!) They are lush! really nice bright colours, and super comfortable fit. Nipped at the waist, and no elastic at the bottom, so actually flattering too! Super soft, and half price in the sale! hehe. So just passing on the recommendation!

    (Long post is looooooong!)

  • Good point I also wear bag strap high. It only really digs when I forget to adjust the strap or something - but I'm rather flat-chested anyway. I remember from hiking that it's way more comfortable to put heavy things at the top of your back.

Reckon we should get alwayriding to get in those Ibex bras? I really want one. They sell other Ibex stuff...

  • Worth an ask! heh. They have been out of their way helpful when I've had questions and stuff, so you never know! I really like this one.

I'm such a fusspot when it come to sports bras. Anyone know of any that still give vague support, but have a nice racer back? I've got a couple of patagonia crop tops, but they are losing it a bit.

On the regular bra front, Elle Mcpherson stuff is lovely. I've got one that is made from a kind of micro netting, so you don't get the hot sweaty thing going on, but it's really nice and fits lovely. Not super cheap, but they have an ace range of sizes and really are worth the bit extra.

  • Socks, those Twin Six jerseys are really nice, what size did you get?

  • New Rapha 3/4 length bib shorts are frigging amazing - I feel like Catwoman.

I completely underestimated how much more comfortable they'd make my ride.

No, I don't have shares, yet.

Went for XL. Nice relaxed fit. Can bring one for perusal at a rescheduled lunch date?

They are the best thing ever - aren't they!!! I love mine, and they seem to be wearing/washing well too.

Oh good. James (aka Prince of Rapha) is happy I like them so much and is smugly telling me how he 'told you how amazingly good they'd be...etc'.

You going to west drinks tomorrow?

    x

  • Yup, will be there tonight - as will Aroogah!

  • Some of you know my friend/teamie Anna, who designs AnaNichoola stuff. I'm helping her promote her gloves, which I've been racing in so far this season. She's got some girlie-girl ones and some endurance riding ones. Please check them out and show your support, she's worked really hard on designing them, and testing the prototypes for ages to make them work. I wear mine all the time and love them.

Those Kestral gloves look like just what I'm after. How do you know if you have small medium or large hands though? Obviously this varies. Is there anywhere to try them on?

  • Bon Velo in Herne Hill have them I think.

nrrgghhh must resist they are my size, already have a pair, they are awesome for long rides. Don't really need them.

    Someone buy them please.

  • Thanks LongAndWinding - reading clefty's post may have tipped me over the edge!

They've got them in Velorution (sp?) if you're in Central London.

  • Oo chairs. Oxford St. way, though meh. Been meaning to pop in to Bon Velo to try on the cat likes anyways. Sorted.

  • ggrrrr

  • So.. given the weather today and the fact that my 'el cheapo Lidl' foldup jacket didn't aquit itself well in the rain, any recommendations for a rain jacket? Would prefer one that doesn't take up too much room in a bag so that it's there for emergencies rather than some big neon boil-in-the-bag jacket.
