  • ooh all very useful links, thanks ladies.

So I wore my new shorts today, did about 50 miles. My ahem front bits hurt a little but not as much as usual. Am I expecting too much for them not to hurt at all?

Also, I'd hardly done any washing as I've had a mental week since being back from hols so I decided to wear my CLEAN surf bikini top under my jersey tonight. Tramp, I know but it was soooooo comfy, so supportive, didn't dig in anywhere or get soggy. Great stuff.

  • womens shorts were 20 pounds at the rapha sale and there were heaps of them
    i love mine too

It may be your saddle that's at the wrong angle for you - even a degree or two can make a difference - or try moving it forward or backwards a bit? Don't know what saddle you ride but as mentioned above I like most things with a cut-out, especially Selle ladies saddles. Like all good things in life, they ain't cheap though :(

For 50 miles I would say you shouldn't put up with pain - something's not quite right for you in your set up.

  • It's a year old Brooks B17 which has never given me any issues except now since putting it on my steamroller and doing longer rides. Might get someone to have a quick look at it in that case.

  • if it was comfy before and it's not now, definitely have a fiddle with the positioning/angle, I think pain-free demi-centuries should be totally acheivable.

  • is the fit the same on the old bike vs the steamroller?

if not then the saddle will not be in the same place, the amount of weight on the saddle vs your hands or feet will change

ideally if you were comfortable on the original bike you need to first set up the saddle on the steam roller to the same height with respect to the bottom bracket, and then ensure the fore/aft of the saddle wrt to the bottom bracket is the same

next you set up the bars to be the same distance from the saddle tip (both horizontal length and vertical drop)

    hope this helps a little

  • Nope but I thought I changed it to factor that in and other riders have looked at it. Deffo need another look. Thanks anyway!

I probably didn't notice before as I was just doing a few miles commute. Deffo need it sorted before doing longer rides.

  • a 5mm shift in just one contact point will have a significant effect

  • hmm taken on board. Had a bath and noticed a few twinges in my shoulder/back too. BIKE FIT!

I'm going to have all this again when I finish the tourer. Le sigh.

  • Have you considered a labiaplasty?

    repped

  • Having a SOH fail

    um no?

EDIT: actually I know that was a joke but wasn't the Ladies section setup so that we could be helpful instead of getting comments like that? Maybe I don't know your SOH...

  • I just had a look at the guidelines:

I missed the one about no jokes.

  • Hood = rain pouring down your neck.

That never happens to me, VeeVee! And I've been worried that if I don't have a hood then rain will go down my neck!

  • Wiggle have the Sugoi Wallaroo merino hoodies on sale. Not many left but: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/sugoi-ladies-wallaroo-290-speedster/

OMG DO IT! I love that hoodie!

  • Rapha womens LS jersey down to £65 online, very limited sizes left:

    DAAAAAAAMMIT! Missed the sale!!

  • OMG DO IT! I love that hoodie!

I did it, after you raving about it at the Ladies drink...and am drumming my fingers inpatiently waiting for it.

Got an email from Wiggle on Monday afternoon saying it was "packed and ready for despatch and should be picked up today and delivered to you within in next two working days"

I really hope it arrives today!

  • BIKE FIT!

Do speak to Scherrit - The Bike Whisperer. Most excellent bike fitter.

  • It's a year old Brooks B17 which has never given me any issues except now since putting it on my steamroller and doing longer rides. Might get someone to have a quick look at it in that case.

I had a Brooks that was comfy for a year and then just - wasn't. No idea why - maybe it had stretched and there was a bit more sag in it. Maybe I'd crashed and it had got a bit bent. I hadn't adjusted it or anything. I don't really know because as soon as it wasn't comfy I bailed.

  • Yes Prancer, I did acknowledge I was having a SOH fail. Just wasn't expecting it is all. Very tired last night... crumbles

Thanks L & W/Stelle. I think I'm feeling the knock on effect of a late night, would normally be able to sort it myself but just can't seem to get the saddle right at all this morning! One of the boys at polo is a bike fitter so hopefully he'll help me out tonight :) Bike Whisperer would be a dream but I am so broke. Maybe closer to the Charity Ride I'll try and get in.

    :(

Sorry, I didn't mean to cause offence. My puerile attempts at humour late at night seldom work. Should leave those to Prancer ;)

Hope you love your Rapha shorts - mine are incredibly comfortable!

actually...he'll probably get over it soon enough...let's gang up on more boys
