2011-05-08 - London to Brighton - Fixed Gear Ride

Every time I try to convince somebody that we're not a bunch of saddos the gear ratio conversation just has to break out.

We're not sad, just missunderstood, brave warriors of the Fixeh.

Also we did the dyke, not ditchling, which seems to be a bit of a longer burn rather than 3 spurts.

Still not sure if I'll make it this weekend. Depends how many brownie points I earn this week.

The night ride down was great last year. If nothing comes up then count me in.

haha i used to have a mate in my office who would say "what's your favourite gear ratio?" in his best cartoon nerd voice, whenever i said i was going to the pub with cyclists.
TBF this was a pub where someone once knocked over a whole table of drinks in an animated debate over the best 10-speed cassette.

i reckons we'll be in for about five what with punctures, general fucking about and beer stops. the ride ain't finished till we reach the end of the small stone pier next to the big novelty one. come meet us, we'll probably be heading to the fortune of war unless its shitting down with rain.

yes, come to the GSIAD the day before, get wrecked. Then cycle to Brighton the next day in the boiling sun while hungover :)

and yes. do what kirth said but you also have to ride the whole way with chainbreaker. If you can resist his advances you're allowed to come on another ride. if you fail to resist you get added to his harem in his basement and you're never heard from again.

Rode to Brighton last month and really enjoyed it, so definitely up for doing it again with a group.
