if you're pretty small thats a lot of bike for the money

  • The two bikes are pretty dissimilar, I think superjoe may have been alluring to as much.

    this may be of use.

I'd recommend a Pompino, if you want an otp singlespeed with drops and the like. I don't own one, but I know they are well made pieces of kit.

  • Thanks Tenderloin (love that song!),

I'm actually quite discerning (although my posts may lead you to think otherwise). I have had lots of bikes in my time (currently on a Cannondale road bike/Gary Fisher mountain bike) and have spent relationship destroying hours whittling my selection down to these two. Just wanted to know of any of the experienced riders on here have had saddle time on either of these.

  • Thanks SA,

    I'm a 6 ft-er so too small for me.

  • The Charge is decent enough. A few friends have them with no complaints.

  • Charge Plug (normal one), Pompino or Specialized Langster alu.

    those three are excellent bike.

  • asked a question, now started a new thread:

    thanks

  • The Kilo TT and the Flite 100 are the same frame. I've got one - an unbranded Kilo TT from BikeIsland, so it has bottle cage mounts - and I can recommend it. Saying this, I don't have any of the off-the-peg components and I've never owned another frame, but I really like it. It's tight, it holds up to abuse, it's fairly light, and it looks the business. The only thing I dislike about it is that it has rack mounts.

  • Not really.

  • I have last years brougham, it's shite, heavy, dull, crap componentry, bolts of cheese and the chainset is already stripped.

  • Pace 4216 - £750

  • I loved the fork on the pace, remind me of the geekhouse/cinelli one.

  • Ed, Senor...any more thoughts on the pace. I'm considering it.

  • Best looking OTP ever:

    Orbea Dude A10

A bit pricey at around £899, but at least it comes with decent components.

Blighted by its awful name though, still worth looking into.

  • GA2G: sadly, you'll need to scratch the Boardman Comp SC from the list - apparently it's been discontinued.

Which, IMHO, is a shame, 'cos I have one, and I find it perfect for the commute.

  • I will be doing a major update as soon as I have the time. In fact I've decided for this particular list, it will be bi-annual, as it takes many hours. Its all the cross-checking and deleting and adding that does it.

Thanks for the heads-up though. I was thinking that maybe January and July would be the two best months. So I'll wait till July, or do it sooner, then wait till next January.

  • Looking for some help in purchasing a new bike, currently riding a charge plug with a few additions - looking to upgrade (helped by the old cycle to work scheme)

What is the best I can look forward to for a round thousand?

  • This thread is there you want to be looking https://www.lfgss.com/thread9085-21.html#post2116218

  • oh and utfs

  • +1

Chris, you are a big boy now, your name says so. So UTFS and UTFB.

  • Condor, Ed said so.

  • Utfs/utfb?

  • Its what "people who are nice to newbs" say after someone else has already pointed them to the relevant thread. It means Use The Fucking Search.
    Don't take it to heart.
