I thought my piece immediately above salmonchilds comment was quite useful.
Clearly you can't please every idiot all of the time.

I don't have any bike buying advice for you, however- forum advice= put prancer on ignore. Apparently he is a nice guy in person but is a total twat on here...
Prancer is a diabolically massive twat... Can't be helped, I still love the guy... Found a PoloPalace™ yet, Ollie?

Hey there guys. Im new to this whole thing, so forgive me if there's already a post like this elsewhere on the site!
Basically, i have ridden a fixed gear bike a few times ( and really loved it!). I'm considering buying one from evans for example or another major shop like that. I have also looked on ebay, but it is full of those fake 'track' bikes which are a shitty chinese job.
I am asking which shops are best for this type of bike, and should i consider buying off ebay or gumtree?
I am not quite up to building my own yet, but i'm aware that fixed bikes are relatively easy to customize
Thanks guys! :)

Felt Gridloc 3spd or fixed with Sturmey-Archer gearing. In copper its not bad, but its also available (in the US)
in the most hideous red+copper one could ever hope never to imagine.http://www.lfgss.com/attachments/36621d1298435262-gridloc_matte_copper_2011-2-.jpg

Hi all,
I want to buy an off the shelf bike which I can just ride and go. Not fixed but freewheel.
Have you any experience of these two bikes which are both on sale at the minute?
Thanks,
Steve

what type of riding will you be doing?
what are you looking for in either of these bikes?
that fixie inc. blackjack is a quid under a grand! silly money for an otp singlespeed. -

Daily London commute - weekend canal - not trying to imitate that Scottish lad who does tricks!

Have a search for OTP (off the peg) bikes. There are a few lists and general review threads comparing different bikes.

Have done that already Wibble but wanted more detail on these two as going to buy a bike at the weekend. Just wanted a quick poll to see if anyone has one/ridden one.
Cheers!

What is this 'Charge Plug' of which you write?

Superjoe - for a handmade steel frame and all the other bits and bobs attached is that such a high price?

Platini - picture above (although I fear you jest sir!). In all seriousness - not a joke thread. I am seriously interested in buying one of these bikes and wanted some other biker feedback.

Charge generally reviews well (haven't ridden one myself but know plenty of people who have them) and seem to be more than up for the job of a standard london commuter.
If the other one costs twice the price, go for the charge.
