energy secretary is pushing ahead with lots more electric car recharge points,
get in the fucking queue and enjoy sitting there electric car drivers
queues- loseThing with electric cars that I can't figure - aren't the batteries full of really harmful chemicals that are being mined in a really harmful way? How's that green? I mean, I'm no expert - just saying.
not sure about that,
I just know that more cars equals more fatties, more inactivity, more sitting around in queues, more road building/ storage/ to accomodate them, said it before, the BritishLOVE to queue, let them atrophy to their hearts content
Just did a quick le google, and found this:
http://www.businessgreen.com/bg/analysis/1807181/are-electric-cars-greenerDon't know how reliable the data...
Still proves bikes are best.
yeah nice one, tl:dr
anyway, we know the most energy efficient vehicle ever invented is.....YOUR BIKE. END OF.WAKE UP MR PARLIMENTALISTARIANMAN
Electric car promotion is a ridiculous stratagem by the usual suspects to greenwash--I think Germany's car manufacturers are getting heavily into them soon. These efforts should gain no political support and other strategies should be favoured instead.

What is OKR though? Three letter abbreviation for everyone's favourite slippery vegetable, okra?
I don't think anyone answered this--then again, you may know the answer perfectly well. It stands for the Old Kent Road.

Thanks. My first thought was "on Kryton Factor" then I couldn't get that out my head.
I think the problem with coverage of electric cars is that it's one of those topics, like plastic bags, that bigots, most of them willfully so, cherry pick to argue against all forms of environmentalism. Electric cars have a part to play, but they are by no means a solution in themselves. As has been pointed out above, they are also convenient tools of greenwash.

I always find it funny how people perceive how electric car will save the world, if you managed to replaced all the cars in London with electric, you'd still get congestion, abet quieter one.
and a massive queue at the electric station...

But Ed, if everyone who drives started cycling imagine the queue outside Condor. You wouldn't like that would you?

I wouldn't mind, I don't live there anymore.

I see! Old Kent Road. I just call Old Kent Road 'Old Kent Road' even if it means typing out Old Kent Road in full. But I can understand that if you're typing Old Kent Road a lot, then typing 'Old Kent Road' instead of 'OKR' could take up lots of valuable time.
Thanks, Oliver.

just listening to the bore at world at one.
the parallels between the anti smoking movements of the last few years can be applied to the habitual use of the private car............imagine if the car billboards said
" inactivity through excessive car use causes obesity, cancer, depression and other serious diseases"
imagine short journeys to shops and work being made as antisocial as smoking indoors, its coming, the health experts are pushing for it. get ready for the death of the car.

Repost? Nylon bike as strong as steel. Looks like pish. Cracked me up the sound at the end. Giving it all "This is world class british engineering" then gets on and rides it and it sounds like a dolphin's fart.

Just seen the news and spoken to a friend over there on Skype.....fuuuuuuuuck.

Watching the footage on Sky news - most of Japan is unaffected and life's going on as normal. The tsunami looks terrifying, but It seems like people might have had chance to scarper before they got swamped. I hope so, anyway.
Extraordinary, brave report from Zawiyah (just outside of Tripoli)
