  • Super Record.

    Not worth the money

The plan is to go with 2010 record, which is well priced at various shops. But the 2010 SR front mech was £85 (NIB), only £20 more than I've seen the 2010 record front mech for.

I've also found good prices for 2010 SR levers and rear mech. So I may just go for the bling bling. Top priority is to have it on the road for summer though.

  • 85 quid for a front mech!!!!!! that's why i dropped gears in 2005 and i'm never coming back!

If you're less of a whore than me. You can get a very nice 2010 Athena front mech for £23.

When this bike is finished I'll have 2 bikes with gears and 2 without. Which seems nicely balanced ;)

  • If you're less of a Whore than me...

if that's what you meant to say then i'm not - i cant force myself to put sugino crank on a da-equipped bike, and a super-nice 3ttt bar/stem combo is gathering dust in the corner waiting for something Italian... :(

Even my steel bob jackson has a ceramic BB ??!!

    seeks help

  • lol you need it

    Do you do wheelies?

  • nope

  • Just need an Izumi V chain and some carbon assembly paste for the seatpost, and its ready for the track!

    Like it :-)

Got some assembly goo if you need it.

  • hoops - what cunning bike stand set up is that?

  • looks similar to the minoura bike tower;

    they work really well.

  • looks good. i need some bike storage solution that doesnt require me to drill into my rented walls.

    /will now utfs

  • Long time no see. New bike, Go!

like this a lot, beautifully put together with decent looking bits, but simple understated look.
    Q's
    1) what are the bars
    2) what are the rims
    3) does this FOLD? saw you guys talking about couplers, so assuming it somehow comes apart, that would be sweet. didn't actually notice the downtube 'coupler' until it was mentioned, thought it was maybe a anti-bar crash into top tube thing in the wrong place! but maybe not ;)

  • I think they're S & S Torque Couplings.

  • I love the fact you ask what's the handlebar is when it's in front of you.

  • those are damn gorgous! and so light as well. looking at the above pic I was thinking they would be solid hunks of billet steel, but no, even the largest is only 250g all in! and you can carve whatever you like out of the lugs, nice.

I imagine its a very skilled job to get them fitted into an existing frame without ruining the geometry etc.

Yeah I can see it says' 3T, but which! I'm assuming they are drops/carbon drops that have been cup down following an accident, hence thought I should probably ask rather than assume :p

    i sure hope not!

  • 3T Xida, I think.

    plenty of other options.

    silly bars at that.

  • First Job is to clean the bike, then change handlebars and levers to the ones resting on top.

Next project, Dawes tourer, Just checking the sizes and pretty sure it will be a good fit. Levers off the road bike onto the tourer, wheels and atually pretty much everything still to source!

  • t13, if you're replacing the Centaur ergoshifter with the Record one, can you sell me the Centaur levers? it's the only thing left on my Colnago as I have a carbon one that doesn't quite go with the bike.

  • They're going onto the dawes. Unless that is a massive mistake for a tourer?

  • Probably, depend on the tour you intend to do really.

I'm sure you realise that it's quite hard to brakes with modern lever + old brake, running the old campag monoplanar was especially hard work with modern centaur lever.

    Thanks Brother.
The bars are indeed 3t Xida Teams and Jersey is right, they are silly.
The rims are stripped and re-anodised IRD Cadence Aeros, it would be alot cheaper to use Deep Vs or the like but that's no fun.
Yep, the couplers are pretty light. Much of the added weight was offset by getting the frame TIG'd instead of brazed.
