So, I've managed to bend my DAMP forks in Karlsruhe. Damn. No longer rides straight with no hands and you can visually see one leg veering away from the other.
Anyone got anything 32mm rake and 405 A-C? long shot but anything close would be considered.
The identiti ffx forks are an option at 30mm rake and 425 A-C, how would that change the handling? Would I even notice?
Off the top of my head it would slacken your head and seatangles about a degree, raise your bb just less than ten mm increase your effective tt length by 2-3mm or so and The Mechanical trail (the important one)will increase by around 10mm.Handling wise:
Wouldn't want to corner as tightly and would want to lean more into corners; would jack-knife with the wheel turned further (it would jack-knife at a much tighter rate of turn but more violently) and you would have more steering feedback through the bars. -

Glowbike, are you a framebuilder?

been trying different cleat/pedal combos today.
for freewheel, I think shimano multi-release is perfect. the release is way easier than time, easier than shimano single release, but still firm enough to stay clipped in in other situations.
just putting it out there for those spd people who are wrecking their knees. (could be me this evening)
I'm really interested to see what you think of this. After watching too many fast people on clipless at Karlsruhe, I want to try out clipless polo again, but kept fucking my wrists up before...
If you pull up hard (sprinting/charging) do they come out? Can you stationary-hop to stay upright?

have you seen cam play?

Yes, but does he use multi-release cleats?

good point

I found multi-release were good but not perfect when I was using them, but the majority of that time i was playing fixed and brakless, and obviously unclipping when you're in full skid is rather inconvenient. single release (and a brake) have been a vast improvement.
I reckon freewheel multi release would be adequate without too much unwanted unclippage.

i think ruperts got the right idea with SPDs, time are awesome for fixed/brakeless riding. But god damn it when i fall and stay clipped in on the left side, unclipping to the right side is such a cunt!
then i have to do the turtle

also time cleats aren't very hard wearing, they are made of brass thats like soft cheese
-
• #4319
they are expensive
they dont work
they have alredy been tested -

I do trust you Rik, but I am curious to as how they don't work. I am not confident in my dual brake lever fabrication skills.

the problem solver has a problem with the running of teh cables, plus the main cable going to the lever is just hold by a 2mm screw, the black one you can see in the pic
Em and Gabes both use it and they both change to double brake levers

Snoops, any chance you can ask where my other fork is (and stem, seatpost and collar)?
-
• #4324
Yes, but does he use multi-release cleats?
Just checked and it turns out I use single release cleats therefore multi-release cleats are for pussies.
I've generally had no problem with spds and don't unexpectedly release as often as i'd thought. They take a while to wear down too and I like to get the very most out of a pair. The only shoes I wear all weekend are my sidis.
Everyone said time atacs were best to the point that I was considering changing but now I reckon i'll stick with the spds for a bit. (Don't change though max, I love watching the ragdoll/turtle)

@danskiman
cleats felt good tonight, no unwanted unclipping, good amounts of wanted unclipping. No negatives, noticable acceleration. I can't do all that hoppy shit that Cam does, so can't answer on that front but they don't feel at all like they would unclip when charging or anything like that.
result!
