  • Tried the Pearl Izumi Stockton jacket - did not like.

it's a well made jacket but coming from my too warm but costly Milwaukee jacket which felt very soft in the inside, the Stockton did not have any lining inside so I didn't like the plastic and sticky feel of the jacket.

  • Was given a rapha bomber jacket for christmas, and I have to say it's very good indeed.

I really, really want one of these.

Can't afford... but then again, who can? :-(

  • their Gillet caught my eye a couple of years ago, but scared the shit out my wallet

  • Didn't the Mather scared the shit out of your wallet already in the first place?

  • no, the Mather is pure lust

have not wanted to post it in the porn wanted thread, but i fucking love it, and have not seen any bike I would rather have, it does exactly what I want it to do

  • post it, it's definitely up with especially with the choice of equipment.

  • you can, cant be arsed with arguing with the arbiter of porn

  • post it - one of you. I want to see it

  • To anyone complaining on a poor water resistance of their soft shells try Grangers waterproofer for soft shell. It did a miracle to mine.

  • gorgeous, really beautiful frame and a lovely build. Love the gloss transparent decals too.
What's it made out of? Looks like ti..

  • there are no decals

decals were put on the frame before bead blasting and the removed afterwards to leave that effect

    yep, ti

though seriously biased i have not seen a bike i would rather have, it does exactly what i want it to do and i thought he nailed the aesthetics of the frame

  • Anyway, the ultimate riding jacket is a gilet. FACT.

  • oh nice - stencil. God that makes it even better. Want.

Can imagine it wasn't cheap - but that really is a bike for life. Not surprised you're chuffed

  • Anyway, the ultimate riding jacket is a gilet. FACT.

No. My arms get cold easily and I hate arm warmers. Jacket ftw

  • so far this winter the ultimate jacket has been a 100% merino jumper, with the option windstopper for keeping showers out

  • poop to that - rapha long sleeved jersey under the softshell for slow days. Softshell and merino base layer for fast days.

  • Sorry, no jacket chat from me. I'm just a total COAT (cunt of a thing), but Re: The Mather – Frame geometry is incredibly lush, and dropouts are wonderful. Badge and colour also lovely. Not my dream bike, but certainly a beaut.

  • softshell too much for most days

    too warm

  • No. My arms get cold easily and I hate arm warmers. Jacket ftw

Don't tell me you hate knee warmers too. You're as weird as damo.

  • Was given a rapha bomber jacket for christmas, and I have to say it's very good indeed.

I've tried that out, and it was really comfortable, can imaging how cosy it is when riding.

  • BMMF: nah - fucking love them.

Prefer tights for comfort, but nothing better than starting cold, getting hot and being able to whip knee warmers off mid-ride :)

Love gilets too - and have been out in one with a long sleeved jersey underneath recently (when it was warmer last week). Generally a bit too cold for me until spring. It is still January though!

  • You could wear some knee warmers on your arms. I won't compromise any more than that.

  • softshell too much for most days

    too warm

it is, it's fine if you're riding around town, says 3-4 miles, but on a long commute, it's a bit of a hassle to keep cool, especially after 5 miles when you start to get warmed up.
