  • The seller seems legit, yes. I've emailed the fella and am awaiting further details

  • If you can have a really close look, and I mean REALLY close up you should be able to make out if cable guides have been shaved, from top tube and also on chain stay, above BB, also the quality of the ends of the rear stays should be a clue as to if those track ends have been added later.
At worst its a really nice TT frame, probably for a single chainring, looks like a Holdsworth from the detail of the brazing around the seat tube bolt.
It looks like a cool track frame though and the geo is nice.

    Good Luck!

  • Thanks cycleaddict, I'll be sure to have a good look when I go to check it out. :)

  • My mates just bought a track frame off ebay. It's supposedly Reynolds 531, has undrilled fork and has "Made in England" stamped on the bottom bracket (with a faint sn we think is 6864).

Has nice lugs and a cutout BB.
Anyone got a clue what it is?

    Thanks
    Monsta

I was following that on ebay, wasn't dirt cheap from what I remember?

    does look well made though.

  • Apparently the frame number is "017042".

this could be a professional sl time trial frame made from 531 sl.

are the drpouts in the forks drilled? how does the bb shell look like from th bottom?

  • I haven't got any pictures, but does anyone know anything about the brand 'Pegasus'?
I have the chance to get a full track bike from about mid 80's, apparently made from 753 tubing....I can't find anything about them tho.......it's not American either ;o)

I know there isn't much to go on, but I'm fishing for info!

  • There's a German brand Pegasus, but I cannot imagine that they ever had a 753 in their range.
More heavy steel city and trekking stuff.

  • Hello all,
Can anyone help to identify this cool racer. All I know is that is from late 60´s or early 70´s, I bought from the Netherlands, decals say Van Oers (i suspect they´re not original), campagnolo dropouts, universal super 68 brakes, no tubes reference and the frame has panto´l lug with and (L) stamped...

Any help would be greatfull apreciated:

  • Van Oers, Nieuwmoer is from Belgium. Near Kalmthout. Indeed, not that far away from The Netherlands.
    Don't know anything about it.
Maybe the pantoed "L"will lead you to the maker.

Perhaps you can write a letter to Van Oers or give him a call.
Hem may be surprised, but can help you out.
Sorry, couldn't find a web address or email address.

  • Anyone fancy giving me a hand with this? I know it's a pretty common frame and should be easy to identify, but I've emailed Colnago a couple of times and they're not getting back to me.

    Here's the link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mechamorgan/4774915637/sizes/l/in/photostream/

It's a Colnago Master Olympic Decor, made with Tange rather than Columbus, and I've been told that it's team colours, but I can't remember the team. I'd like to build it up with slightly more aesthetically pleasing/period correct components, can anyone give me a direction in which to head?

If anyone needs more photos I'd be more than happy to oblige.

  • This frame has been in my family for a long time and has recently been re-discovered. Im looking for as much information as possible about this piece as I think its quite a rare item. Thought to be an early 1970's track frame by F.W.Evans, but I haven't been able to find any solid information on how to date this frame, or any information or even pictures of old Evans track frames.

If anyone could help I would be very grateful, and if people could also estimate how much this frame would be worth I would also be grateful.

    Thanks for your help.

  • Yea I have had a look at these websites already... As i'm not an expert i've not reli been able to deduce much about my particular frame from this information and I haven't seen a pic of one the same or similar thats been dated... or with the same lugs. And information ive read about the decals has not been very substantial either......

Thanks a lot! I am a bit excited, I just bought this bike and I´m finding myself very curious. The guy said they were custom made for some folks.... that´s all I know. Any more clues would be very welcome!

Thanks Mr Cheese.......I was told it was English, and top end frame........The guy that I'm getting it from (maybe!) is an ex youth track champ and my old (retired) boss, so I know it's kosher....I need a look and pictures, I guess

  • Sorry to hijack the thread, but can someone identify this frame's brand?

No. Sorry. I've no idea what this is.

  • The seat stay bridge woould not be drilled on a true track frame. Same with fork crown although these are sometimes drilled by builder or later by an owner

  • Hi - posted my question on retrobike as well, but thought there might be some more dutch and belgian experts around here.

I picked up this bike earlier in the year and want to know more about the bike as I also think about what I will do with it - ss or leave as geared swap out some parts as it is not currently in functioning order.

Now I have moved it out of storage - I have been able to take some photos and would like to know more about the bike.

The frame is made of Columbus SLX Tubing, says Rider on the side, a little white bird (almost columbusesque) painted on the settube and headtube. Rider is stamped all over it - Brake bride, bottobracket shell (top and bottom), top of the rear stays, fork crown, and even the rear dropouts. I could not find a serial number and trying to search for "racer + rider" on google obviously doesnt lead me anywhere fruitful. They guy I bought it from didnt know anything about it as it wasnt his bike - his father in laws if I remember.

Needless to say the bike has a fantastic 80s paint scheme (in someones eyes) and chrome details and is built up with a campy 7 speed groupset. I got it with two sets of tubless wheels - and the frame has a number hanger on it. Frame seems to be cromed under the paint as well - as some of the paint has been chipped away on the bb - and it looksl like crome under there...

I have just guessed it is from belgian - no idea really.

Can anyone know any information about the bike or "Rider" as a manufacturer/shop/sponsor?

  • Rider.
Yes, just UTFS on this forum.
Rider is (was) one of the brands from Belgian wholesaler Simons from Bekkevoort.
Also selling bikes under Diamant label.
First, they used Diamant, later Rider (from 19990 or so).
With Diamant they supported even some pro teams like Histor - Sigma.
Diamant was well known in Cyclocross.
Rider may have been popular in Triathlon.

  • Thanks Dutch Cheese - to be honest, UTFS many times to no avail. for some reason rider appears many times on this site :)

Thanks for the info though - will continue digging. It wasnt clear for me from your post if Rider was actually the manufacturer or if they were produced by someone else and branded Rider for Simons - do you know.

    cheers

  • Simons is a wholesaler, not a frame builder.
Frame could have been made anywhere. Belgium, Italy, far east... Probably Belgium.
