  • thanks

  • Don't think it's a Pug or Gitane, look like a Mercier/Motobecane.

like other said, check BB to be sure.

  • Hi,

I have recently completed the rebuild of my Claud Butler and am trying to age it, the number stamped on the bb is 016695.
Does anyone know the relevance of these numbers and how to identify the date?

    Cheers

  • Try a restaurant or the cinema is good option.

  • Ha ha not on a first date!!!!

  • mines called harold,

oh right sorry wrong kinda thread

  • Sorry to hijack the thread, but can someone identify this frame's brand?

  • Looks like it says Mertz 5 on the down tube?

  • That was also my best shot, but I can't find any info on it. I guess it must be really obscure.

Roberto I've put you a thread in General.

  • can anyone identify the exact model of this frame, im pretty sure by the bb its a track champion but the seatpost is wierd, and I can't find any pics of one like this. Anyway, if someone could help i'd much appreciate it

  • Either an old track champ, or a pursuit champ (yes they do exist) can't quite remember which one it is, thinking the latter?

  • My mates just bought a track frame off ebay. It's supposedly Reynolds 531, has undrilled fork and has "Made in England" stamped on the bottom bracket (with a faint sn we think is 6864).

Has nice lugs and a cutout BB.
Anyone got a clue what it is?

    Thanks
    Monsta

  • looks very well made. search for hilarystone on the forum, or send the pictures to http://www.classiclightweights.co.uk/

they may be able to help

  • Thanks I've contacted Hilary. Hopefully she'll know the deal.

I think my friend will be happy with the "looks very well made" comment! He got it dirt cheap on ebay for his first fixed gear. I think he's itching to get it all built up.

  • Thanks I've contacted Hilary. Hopefully he'll know the deal.

    ftfy

  • Didn't know Hilary was an incherchangable name :)
    Thanks

  • It's being sold as a Holdsworth track frame, but I'm dubious... it looks like a road frame with track dropouts...

    Thanks

  • Any other pictures? BB number stamp (if there is one) will help and closeup shots of lugs etc.

I couldn't tell you but someone on here with that info should be able to!

  • Apparently the frame number is "017042".

This frame is almost similar and also branded "Holdsworth", although the owner also seems dubious.

  • Nice looking bike, have you checked out the seller? One of my mates nearly got rollled over on a deal that looked too good to be true, but a little googling revealed the seller to be a scally. Be careful out there people.

  • Interesting... have never been able to work out what this is, closest got was pointing to Holdsworth. Again, track dropouts but frame has cable run and is drilled for brakes.

    Frame number is 118592

OP - Hope you get the answer you're looking for!
