Can someone kindly remind me of the website you can look up a car reg to confirm the make and colour of the car?
Need to report something, but need to confirm I read the reg number correctly and that it belongs to the company I think it doesThanks
Edit: found it on the DVLA website, thanks

Green Nissan (Micra I think)
DoctorCall Company Vehicle
LT06 VVBSo, on Friday I was riding home along Upper Thames Street just before Southwark Bridge, fast fairly heavy traffic as is usual on that stretch of road at 6pm, was in the cycle lane - minding my own business, when a green Nissan swerves into the cycle lane, just in front of me. I brake instinctively - no harm done. I look again at the green Nissan, there is nothing in the road that would have caused him to swerve. I notice that it is in fact a private Doctor on Call vehicle run by http://www.doctorcall.co.uk/. I look through the rear windscreen and notice the drive is on his mobile.
Now, call me old fashioned - but I was rather suprised and somewhat incensed that an on call Doctor of all people should be doing this in the first place. Let alone in a company vehicle - emblazoned with his company details. So at the red light, I decide to talk to him.
Pull up alongside, politely tap on the window - he looks at me, still on the phone - doesn't wind the window down. I make 'phone' hand signals and mouth 'GET OFF THE PHONE' at him. He waves his hand at me, turns around and goes back to his conversation. Lights still Red. I knock on the window politely again, this time he winds the window down (still on phone). I inform him very politely (I even called him Sir) that a) what he is doing is illegal and b) he could have hit me 100 yards back down the road. He looks at me blankly, winds the window up. Lights change, he turns left onto Southwark Bridge without checking his inside (still on phone) and away he goes.
Luckily I glanced at his plate as he rode off into the sunset of South London stopped by the side of the road and noted it down along with the time and a few details, I decided to look him up and report him to his company and to Roadsafe when I got home.
I received an acknowledgement of receipt from Roadsafe this morning, and just now I received the following from DoctorCall
"Dear Claire
I apologise for the problems that you have encountered with one of our cars and drivers.
I will look into this, speak to the individual involved and take steps to ensure we avoid any issues such as you describe in the future. We do have a mobile phone policy which covers both the workplace and whilst driving on business and we expect members of staff to adhere to this.
Thank you for bringing this to my attention and once again please accept my apologies for any problems you have encountered.
Yours sincerely,

Had a few of these. Not seen the ones mentioned by Moonboy but have had the Muvi & Muvi ebay copies.
Generally the cheap eBay ones wig out over time. They start off promising but the batteries end up managing about 5 mins insteatd of the initial 40 mins.
I eneded up getting a cheaper Muvi one (i.e. half price on Play.com).
The difference is amazing. Not only is the picture better but now it records for 2hrs (if I leave it on buy accident) and more importantly holds its charge.
The other advantage are the accessories - good waterproof housings and the like.

Was almost killed by a bus driver last night in Kilburn, when I caught up with him and explained with gestures and mouthed words that he should be more careful when the weather is bad (not a single swearword left my mouth), he leaned out of the drivers cabin, gave me the finger, mouthed "FUCK OFF" at me and took off. I was speechless!
I took his number plate and route number after I caught up with him again and he responded with 2 fingers this time - he must have loved me twice as much by then.
Trying to make a complaint on the tfl website currently but the whole process is so bloody tedious, I just want to be able to write a short email that contains all the details, not fill in a million form fields.

I've just had some email correspondence with the PCO which may help. If you get a license plate or vehicle registration, and want the other, they've previously been citing the Data Protection Act as an excuse. I reported this to the Information Commissioners Office, and made an FoI request for their policy.
They've emailed me today to admit that they shouldn't be misusing the DPA in this way. They may not refuse you the information on that basis.
DPA does cover the identity of cabbies or owners of cabs. You aren't allowed that, but getting the full details you can is important.

Sorry my question up there made little to know sense at all. I'll try again:
I'm interested in buying a couple of video recording cameras for my bike. I had a look on ebay recently but am not sure what an acceptable spec would be for this equipment. Any ideas? Or is there a particular brand that folk can recommend?
(edit: Thanks OVP and Moon dude)

Engine cut-off is the best thing for dangerous bus drivers. Give them time to think about what they've done.

ref MD80 camera issues (if they're the £10 ebay ones) see http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=12666507 as the first 50 pages cover every fault known on these (!). The sellers are good about swopping them out - quite a few people still using their MD80's with no issues.

Has anyone encountered a Porsche with a German number plate? Watch for that guy he drives very dangerously, he likes revving his engine and his favourite sport is cutting people up and when he can't, sits on your wheel. I spotted him last week in Pimlico/Victoria and last night all the way from Stockwell to Clapham High Street.
He told me that he was a good driver and pointed at all the cars "look at them, they are the ones who don't know how drive!".

A German driving a Porsche, as unlikely as a French person in Citroen.

But seriously, one drawback of people with fast reactions is that they tend to think that everyone else is like them and will love them for taking such risks.
I think the best and only place is mounted on a helmet. Just trying to find the right helmet now. Saw a 'Bell' branded helmet in Lock7 today that actually fitted my head for £35. Looked perfect for the job. Mounted on the bike will fuck the footage.
