  • Completed it.

    That didn't answer my question!

  • Meh, stuck now as I got the car dock- which is pretty handy, when the phone does not freeze.
Seriously though, the Nexus One should be pretty much the same as the Desire- they are 90% the same phone after all?
My iPhone was a lot more reliable post software release 3.

Mine was rock solid with 2.1, 2.2 stock and even the custom ROM.
I'm a little worried about the Desire HD.. new phone.. could be shit! :S

  • Hey ho, the Kindle application is quite cool- although it force closed itself twice today.

It updates my Kindle (and vice versa) with where I have got to in whatever book I am reading.

On a different note my Kindle is easily the coolest thing I've bought myself in about five years.

  • Do any of the reviews mention this Dammit? Could it just be yours?

Kindle is completely stable on my HTC.

I doubt the Desire HD will do that hippy.

  • Dammit has some kind of electromagnetic interference buried deep in his body that destroys electronics.

  • Well this is my second Nexus One after the first one went wrong, I'm not hugely confident that HTC were paying attention when they made them.

For example this new one does not connect to the pins on the dock properly, unlike the first one.

Find my keys or I come and lie on your computer.

  • Do you keys contain electronics that control central locking? You've probably exploded them by looking at them wrong. :P

  • Oddly that keeps working- I do have a clockwork watch though.

Anyway- I'm serious about the key, I've not seen it since I gave it to you and asked you to look after it.

    Any ideas?

  • Seriously? I thought you were joking. I have no idea. My keyring has 3 Krypto keys and two house keys, that's it.
What does it look like? If you say "a key" I'm going to piss on your car.

  • I gave you the spare before we set off in case I lost the "main" keys with the car (and us) in Italy.

  • Nah, No way. I thought maybe I could have a spare key laying around but that thing's pretty bloody obvious.

Really? Do you remember where I put them, coz I don't.

  • Handed the key to you outside my place, not sure where you put it.

I probably would've put it in the car then. It's not around here.

Hah, I'll have a look tomorrow.

I guess it might have followed your passport into hiding. I'd forgotten about the search at the border.

  • I probably would've put it in the car then. It's not around here.

  • I quote you before you post, spooky.

  • If I do find a Volvo key lying around I'll make sure and try it in that gold one down the road..

  • Give it a go- that's an ME7 though, ETM and all sorts of things to go bump in the night.

I keep looking at Stagea's now, damn your eyes sir.

  • I still want a GTR even though they're
    too small
    don't hold a bike

TomTom finding ways to compete with Google Maps. Sounds interesting, Gogosama - how are you finding navigation on the Desire HD?

  • had no trouble at all with my desire hd so far.

  • Gingerbread = 2.3 and should be out before year end. 3.0 will be Honeycomb.

  • It's not usually cheaper buying the phone outright, but it is better. The major benefit to me is in the freedom to ditch network or handset as I please. With the pace of new device releases being able to throw the unit on ebay and pick up a new one is what I want. Do it soon enough and you can get a fair bit of money back on the device.
Unlocked devices are often available quicker, don't get bloatware, get updates quicker, etc. Also, you can expense the phone if it's for work. If you have the money, why get the contract phone?

Ah yeah I see the benefits, but for me it's easier to pay it off monthly as I have other demands on my disposable income, and I'm not in a position to put it on expenses. I look at it that over the course of my contract, I pay a total of £450 if i stay within allowances, so say a good price on a handset is around £350, I'm only paying £100 in line rental over the 18 months.

Malaysian, your data total of 500mb is quite amusing. Mine, on my main line is 10GB (T-Mobile...older tariff). In fact you situation is enough to make people abandon monthly contracts! 500MB? I download movies and stuff on mine, plus create a wi-fi hotspot at home from my Desire.

I'm more interested in using it as a phone to be honest, I guess I'll discover more of it's capabilities as I go, but I can't see the data being an issue for me,,. over the last year my most data intensive month was only 100mb.

  • So I pay £400 for the handset, use it 6 months@£20, sell it for £250-300 and buy the Desire HD. Rinse, repeat. Again, depending on your business, the phone contract costs can be a business expense too. It depends on how much you want the initial £400.
