yup, it keeps going up!
as I've built my 'no claims' bonus, now a healthy 6years, insurance has gone up so much that i'm paying the same now as I was when I was 18!!! wtf indeed. and I live in about the lowest risk area there is, actually zero crime. -

All you can do is buy a worthless wreck, and keep it on the/your/friend's/someone's drive to get/keep your NCB up. And pay through the nose; welcome to today's Britain. Value of car is of minimal relevance, potential for stupid personal injury claim that insurance cos are too lazy/stupid to regulate is the real problem with premiums; for that, any car will do.

My car is group 18, first years insurance was £800, that was with no NCB.
This year it was £450 with 2 years NCB, every time I have had to shop around though as if you let the company roll it over they'll knock £20 off if you are lucky.
My excess is £1,000, which (the contact centre girl cheerfully informed me) is £250 more than the book value of the car, so if it lost a wing mirror it would be a right off.
Therefore the only reason I have insurance is because I might hit someone/thing.
It's no use to me for any other reason- apart from being a legal requirement obviously.

I'm no farmer but I think you'd be better with a tractor and trailer.

main thing that pisses me off with insurance is if your car is totalled (by someone else because I am prO drivOR) or nicked, you wouldn't get anything like its worth, and if its in especially good nick with brilliant history and everything done, they won't understand and will fob you off with a quote of some piece of junk they found off ebay.
Welcome to England.

Should go in misc and meaningless no? It's not about bikes...
Another fucking car thread?

Bollox. They fab you off with the indrusty price guide that the indrustry uses to fix prices within the indrustry, which will be far lower than some not even vaguely similar peice of junk they could have found on ebay.
You cynic you.

If you don't want to know what is bothering people who ride bikes, go to the site where the bikes not the people do the posting, and I'm sure you'll be happy.

Now out of all the quotes I've gotten, the best is £990!
What you need is to grow old.

+1, being a pensioner entitles you to drive group20 turbo monsters for £92 a year premium. Because being 85 makes you less likely to crash into stuff.....

Moving from Deptford to East Dulwich took about £150 a year off mine.

Mine is £197 fully comp on a Focus 1.8 zetec TDi Estate.
There is no car crime on the IoM.

fraud!

Mine is fully comp with business use, however that was within £50 of TPF&T.
I wonder if I can claim that my car is normally parked on the IOM?

You can leave it at mine, no strings attached.

I'd like them back if you find them- the plipper does not work but the key does.

Could you not just get third party fire and theft? Or do they not do that now?
Could the OP look at limited mileage? If you use the bike all the time you can't use the car that much?
