We're not. Serious discussion will no doubt resume when there's something to discuss.

  • maybe we should try and coax the bike cops back to the forum
hopefully they will be treated with the proper respect they deserve

  • the faceplant four?

  • I was being serious.

Anyway, she got away which makes her fucking awesome.

  • I reckon I'd be taking a beat down.

Riding along with my head up my arse, whistling tiptoe through the tulips...

    BAM! No bike.

  • Riding along with my head up my arse, whistling tiptoe through the tulips...

Were you on my commute this morning?

  • Not unless you drive a black cab.

  • hey people lets try and be a bit more supportive of the new task force
they are specifically looking at the issue now rather than doing it as some token gesture in the past
all the comments about their actions in the past are now irrelevant and basically are going to put people off reporting crime to them if they just think there is no point in reporting stuff

lets get behind the police on this one and try and get bike crime in london stopped
it's your ride / bike and i know you'd be pissed if it got stolen

here is the response i got back from them

***thanks for this info, yes this is something we would certainly take very seriously, have read the comments on the forum and we will definitely look into this, please feel free to tell anyone with any knowledge of these incidents to contact us.

They are now putting themselves out there for us it is now up to us to help
If you are not part of the solution you are part of the ( precipitate ) sorry old joke )) / problem

Couldn't agree more, cyclists as a community have nothing to lose and everything to gain by working with the police. It goes without saying that you get good police officers and not so good ones, the same is true of any industry or profession. This is obvious.

Unfortunately, rubbishing the police can be a popular past-time for some. Why? Because it's cheap and easy, not unlike some members of the forum.

If we try and work with the police (and take the not so clued up coppers with a large pinch of salt) it can only work to our advantage. And before anyone asks, no I don't work for the police nor am I getting a cut of a doughnut, I'm simply speaking on behalf of the 'common fucking sense collective'.

  • I'm simply speaking on behalf of the 'common fucking sense collective'.

    You're wasting your breath...

    Seriously tho', nice one... :]

  • Just a wee heads-up

A cyclist was attacked in De Beauvior this evening...there has been a spate of attacks over the last 2 months. Some of the punks were caught...seems their back?

There were 3 police staking out the area when I went by 20 minutes ago, (but they won't be there all the time guys!) they recommend to stick to the main roads at night.

Basically avoid like the plague: Northchurch Road meeting Culford and Lawford Road.
Its the intersection where the bollads are (no car access and minimal lighting), heading through to DB square and onto Kingsland Road.

(I read about the attacks on here, but I could not find the original thread to post in)

  • i read here about it a while ago and also read that they were caught I was avoiding the area but when i read that they were caught I started going through there again. Thanks for the post. I will avoid it tomorrow.

  • I've avoided the area ever since I first read of the attacks on here. Thanks for the heads up though.

  • There have been a few other attacks since the original gang were caught unfortunately.

Good general advice is to stick to the busier roads in De Beauvoir and be wary of the traffic free bike routes.

  • These spiteful little cretins really need a fucking slap.

  • De Beavoir vigilante ride

  • Bunch of grubby pikeys. Sick of regular bike thieves in London, let alone ones that will do harm to riders. Cheers for heads up Ziska.

  • One day they'll start on the wrong person. Motherfuckers are lucky I have no reason to ride there at night.

  • because you would be so easy to sneak upon that it would take out all the excitement?

  • here is the other thread http://www.lfgss.com/thread53404.html

  • .

  • So have you had a bad experience there recently, ziska?

'Bike routes' are by definition not 'traffic-free', as there will be people travelling along there on foot and by bike. Beware of the lazy shorthand that means 'motor traffic-free' when it says 'traffic-free'. It's inaccurate and misleading.

The general advice we give as a local LCC group is to go along the main streets after dark when such threats are reported. In the daytime, you'll usually be fine.
