we did laugh ed.
Everytime we came in or out through the exhibitors security gate the guard mumbled "edscoble" to see who's head would turn instinctively. right funny
Really?
That's mad, I never thought they were particularly bothered about that sort of thing

Funny how Ed can instil a certain reaction in people... ;-)

How did security find out that it wasn't the person named on the pass?

Use Google Chrome, it includes Google Translate and has translated the site for me.
How well does it work? Here's the first paragraph in German and English via GT:
For European languages it's pretty damned good.
Pretty good, but quite misleading. I count 11 mistakes, of which at least five distort the meaning.
Below is a correct translation:
(The first word in bold should be deleted--inaccurate grammar in German--, and the second bold text seems to reflect one of the confusions introduced by Germany's disastrous spelling reform about ten years ago.)
If you ask Michael Kemper why he opened his factory, he will tell of his visit to Velorama, the National Bicycle Museum of the Netherlands. There, in Nijmegen, he first saw an old Dursley-Pedersen bicycle. Kemper was so completely thrilled by inventor Mikael Pedersen's 100-year old engineering feat that it was immediately clear to him that this type of bike did not belong in a museum, but (in active use) on the streets/roads.

No foot retention, risers, deep rims, a blingy chain which was so tight you literally couldn't move it and it's called a 'band wagon'! Really!
It's ironic, see? You wouldn't understand, you hopeless non-hipster. ;)

That is the only possible explanation. That or Kona's R and D team think it's 2008.

There's been quite a bit of talk, and things written, rightfully, about Royce, what with their lovely bottom brackets and hubs, they deserve it. But when it comes to British component producers of high quality wares, USE were there at the show too. They've got new chainrings, and some new Exposure lights (already mentioned previously). Hope were also at the show, and they make bits of loveliness, in the guise of seat clamps, lights, and hubs, amongst other things. I had a chat with the people on the Hope stand, and good news(!) - they will discuss again at their next mangerial meeting, making fg/ss hubs for our market. They admit that quite a few people stopped at their stall and asked the same questions that I did. So, they shall revisit that idea. Here's hoping the outcome favours us.

My favourite in the show is the blindspot of the lorry for the reason below this image;
It look uncannily like an ASL;
I have to say ed, that when I stood on the black 'death' patch on the floor around the lorry it really did feel just how you have quoted...? well done for capturing it so accurately.
Are the police even aware that the cycle lane and blind spots are exactly the same? I am pretty sure if they had noticed that they would do something?
I think this image comparison should be sent to them, to show them just how bad it is.

@john: i saw that and though of you, funneh how it works sometimes. only thing though, you might want to upgrade the hubs right away :P
Ha, just because it's a white and red aluminium frame? You might be right though...
Reeen, what's up with the hubs? Or are you taking the piss based on my previous problems? ;)

Welcome aboard Hendrik, you the guy with the beard towards the end of Saturday?
Sounds like that would be me. So would you be the guy in the green T-shirt who was telling me about the film festival? I'm guessing that someone called 'sumo' won't be the cute photographer lady...

No, theyre aware. They just dont give a fuck. I spoke to one guy who was advised by the police on that stand to "just get out the way if a truck comes up behind you" in that situation.
Hello to the LFGSS...
I'm afraid I can't remember who the people were on the booth but they were very friendly. Someone even gave me a Penguin bar :).
