  • Ah I see. Well I just installed Appbrain, synced up the accounts and Angry Birds was added to the list. Now I click install and it says "The requested item could not be found".

    What gives?

Yeah till the end of the contract from the 4th month, and when it comes to the end of the 3rd month I can either keep the insurance or decide not to.

download the app brain app and try a synch

  • Majority of these apps on Appbrain says "The requested item could not be found".

    Sad times. :'(

  • download the app brain app and try a synch

You just quoted what I just said.

  • You called me a cnut ;)

  • :P Awight.

  • Managed to get a apk file of it, installed.
Now the game just stops unexpectedly before boot.

  • get 'Fast Web Installer'...(available from the appbrain market)..run it then go onto appbrain and try to download Angry Birds again

  • Angry Birds lite beta is in the normal android market place, it should come up in a search

The Android market place is a mess compared to App Store, I've understood. We're still figuring out how to push the game in the best way possible. Haven't checked it, myself, but as it seems the Android version will soon be my responsibility, I think I should have a look. (And maybe get an Android phone.)

  • yes, you should definitely get an Android phone!

tasker is awesome. best Android app I've seen.

In short it carries out tasks (actions) based on contexts (a time, date, place, application or the state of something).

I've only just got it, but already it automatically switches my phone to vibrate when I'm in the office (it senses the wi-fi network) then turns the ringer on again when I leave, switches the phone to silent when it's time for bed then an hour later turns off wi-fi, 3g and auto sync to save power.

then 5 mins before my alarm goes off in the morning it comes off silent, switches on the wi-fi and 3g and auto sync so everything is back to normal when I wake up.

you can make it do pretty much anything you can think of though, it's awesome.

  • Samsung i7500 is now running GAOSP (drakaz updated his funky new automatic Installer app and recovery today) and my Desire is now running Modaco r9 WIP which includes the latest Google Maps (4.5) and some other stuff like new radio image.

  • T-mobile 2.2 update, what's the hold up?

  • A lot of features they want to remove, and garbage they want to add, I fear.

  • Sad face

    Reluctant to root

  • Hehe.... root

Sounds to me like a class action may be due, if that is the case. Since T-Mobile do not make the phone, it can be proved that they would have made the consumer experience worse by their subtractions and additions. It would be a simple case to win, because an unlocked Desire from Expansys, that was bought with a T-Mobile contract, would not suffer as much, and would get all the provable benefits of the full Froyo upgrade.

They could not say that their contract with me allows them to diminish the performance of my phone. Just such a thing was tried by Vodafone, and they backed down sharpish. True, it was a slightly different scenario, where the Froyo upgrade was expected OTA, but Vodafone sent out their own sneaky update instead. This was promptly removed from all those who requested it, because the consumers felt tricked.

    Mmm... custom ROMs... mmm

  • Friend of mine has just gone from iPhone 3GS to Desire, and now after a few weeks with the desire has gone to iPhone 4. Some people are just beyond help. He cited the shitest reasons you've ever heard.......marketplace vs Apple store, app quality, the OS which I just don't get at all.

You know, Apple have done their job well

  • The iPhone 4 is an incredible phone, despite reception issues. If he likes it, I don't blame him. Many Android phones can't live with it, but others easily surpass it - especially in multitasking. And the ones that are around the corner will kick sand in its scrawny face. If he had waited till the Gingerbread update, he would never have gone back to the iPhone. He will learn though.

That worked. But when I launch the game I get an error. BLAH.

  • The highly respected Gartner, have said that they expect Android to claim the No.2 spot this year, and the No.1 spot by 2014.

Bought this app today off the back of your review, and it locks my Nexus to the point that it requires a power cycle to bring it back to life.

I'd set the tasker application to automatically turn on the GPS when the phone was put into the car-dock, and this blew the phones mind it would appear.

  • I think Fox therefore owes you a bicycle. Thats fair.
I hear he has a lovely original 1950s Raleigh, with original Sturmey 3spd. Take that.

    ;)

  • Sorry Dammit =(

I probably should have pointed out that because it can make your phone do any possible thing, your phone may not like any possible thing. Maybe it didn't like it because it doesn't expect to be put in a car dock at the same time as the GPS is turned on, but I suspect the involvement of the car dock.

Have you worked out how to switch tasker off so you can remove that profile?

On the plus side you can get a refund if you uninstall it I believe (they will only let you do this once though).

I haven't finished doing that up yet!
