  • got an emmelle ladies bike last night...

    http://101wankers.tumblr.com/post/952136996/public-service-announcement

    Just sayin...

    ;)

  • Dave Lloyd is finally finished! Rides like a dream :)

  • Just put all the stuff I had around on my RecordPro, just to test it.

    To do:

    • Half link
    • Fixed instead of SS
    • Replace bartape
    • Replace rear HSON with Corima (rebuild with trackhub)
    • Replace saddle (Regal ?)
    • Replace cranks, brake and seatpost with something period-correct.

    • Not sure about destickering the Corima, although it would look better.

  • I HEART the Dave Lloyd!

    Good work :-)

  • Really pleased with how it's turned out - its taken ages to get and everything together and is well over budget, but nevermind!

  • Looks like teenslain's Colnago but better ;-)

  • Is the paint/chrome on the Dave Llloyd original?

  • The Lloyd is great.

    looks like a dream...so smooth

  • The Lloyd is great.

    syb@w?

    nice lloyd also.

  • Is the paint/chrome on the Dave Llloyd original?

Yeah its all original, there was another one like it being sold in classified awhile back as singlespeed but had taken a bit of abuse.

First road frame with a sloping top tube (apparently...) and has a nice wishbone seat stay as well

  • Love it!

  • built a new 29er front wheel this weekend for the mtb, feels brilliant - it rolls so much faster!

  • whats the logic of 29 front and 26 rear? Stability or just speed?

  • basically just like a 29er but a bit quicker on the rear end and faster acceleration - the front rolls over bumps easily and rolls fast... also tweaks the geometry to feel a bit more fun

does't work on every bike! these a 420mm forks

  • the highest I'd be able to go is 107 gear inches. Is that enough of a top end?

As long as you're not contesting stage wins with Cavendish and Pettachi, it's plenty.

My concern with this is whether it causes problems if I want to use sti shifters?

If you use an MTB cassette, you need an MTB rear derailleur. With Shimano, this is no problem as road STI levers will shift MTB derailleurs, certainly for 9-speed, not sure about the new 10-speed stuff*. There is an issue with mixing road with MTB at the front, though.

*According to this, you can use old Shimano 9-sp rear derailleurs with 10-sp road STIs and 10-sp MTB cassettes

  • there are some pretty awesome bike at page 677, especially the titanium MTB, David, and the Koga.

    Really bad phone picture but almost finished the Porteur, the only thing I need to do is to drill a hole on the front mudguard to attach it to the rack to add stability;

  • looks good. which bike shop?

  • Action Bikes in Wimbledon, which is second away from my house.

  • are you working there now.
bought my first proper MTB from that shop.... memories.

  • There's no position at the shop at the moment, but the mechanic and I are in good terms (always popping round to chat with him), so he'll recommend me if there's a position at the shop.

my first proper MTB were a second hand Emmelle from Smith Brothers up in Wimbledon village, their own brand bicycle is pretty decent.

  • bending his ear, more like :)

  • Scoble:

Fixed? Or single with a coaster? Either way. Top job

  • coaster

mumble already said it, but right now it's a singlespeed coaster, I intended to have a two speed kickback coaster hubs on that bike.
