As for your comment on my choice of colour, I am insulted(!)
It's my bike... I pick the colour schemeActually, now you're on here, popular opinion and pub joshing will eventually decide what colour you go for. Be warned.

I've met a local yesterday and he told me that theres a bicycle shop name 'bicycle boutique' if im not mistaken. Does that shop sells fixed gear parts?
-
• #380
yes they do sell fixed gear hubs, fixed wheels, chain, etc.
its my favourite shop as they have low prices for servicing. they do the job quickly (sometimes the same day when you get there before 11 ) . Professional and friendly staff .
they are also open **every **day from 9ish to 6pm.if you cant find a part there, the shop called GBH will have it

Great, thanks guys. Hope to see you in campus perhaps? Oh yah, is't safe for me to commute to class everyday? Bicycle parking areas?
-
• #384
Lots of people commute by bicycle and there are locking points all around campus/town.
Buses are intimidating to the novice riders, as here they practically share the same lane with cyclists and they're always pulling over and even sometimes speeding past you, just to stop right in front of you.
Sometimes pedestrians shout at you to try to make you fall off.
Here in manchester theres a bit of alleycats, some bike polo, road rides and race and also critical mass to meet other cyclists. Its a normal place, not un-friendly to bikes

Its almost the same here then, but the traffic here is A LOT more worst I tell you. Well, I plan to commute to class with my bike, I'm just concerned about the bike. People don't steal bikes/bike parts there right?
Thanks for the info, really appreciate it.

People DO steal bikes, although it's considered to be less problem outside London. I'm more wary already here in Manc than i was back in Cov. My local shops have signs outside warning it's a bike theft hotspot.
Take whatever precautions you can - e.g. 2 decent locks, don't always lock in the same place on same routine, keep bike secure indoors if you can, lockable qr's, ball bearings for allen bolts if you're worried about parts going etc.

Hello, I'm currently converting an old black Peugeot road bike (bought from bicycle boutique originally) to fixed, but might run it as a freewheel for a bit, never run a fixie before. Moving down to London in September (uni and all that) but it'd be nice to have some people to ride with between terms and stuff.

I see, thanks for the heads up man. Will try to get something for the locks. Do they sell u-locks or any durable locks over there? Cos its kinda hard to get a decent one over here.
