I just came here, new to everything and EBS is the first bicycle shop I've noticed so far. Went there to fix my chain as I didn't have the chain tool, got a remark letter instead from them.

Harry Hall the one in Whitworth Street ya? I hope they're nice people. Thanks mate.

I thought so. Ironic it is, he mentioned about how stupid we "cool kids" roll in the street with no brakes on.

Haha, no wonder. I went to Edinburgh bicycle shop the other day and the people told me a lot about the law and safety here. He even told me to put brakes on and change the tire because of its condition(which I can use for few more weeks IF i ride everyday). Sorry, but is't that strict over here?

Hello guys, I'm Joe. I just moved to Manchester a couple months ago and finally got my bike shipped from my country. Im currently studying in MMU, Chatham most of the time. Looking for people to ride with, any events or any sort of ride would be interesting to join. I posted in Manchester Fixed Gear group in Facebook but it seems that no ones replying.

People DO steal bikes, although it's considered to be less problem outside London. I'm more wary already here in Manc than i was back in Cov. My local shops have signs outside warning it's a bike theft hotspot.

Take whatever precautions you can - e.g. 2 decent locks, don't always lock in the same place on same routine, keep bike secure indoors if you can, lockable qr's, ball bearings for allen bolts if you're worried about parts going etc.

I see, thanks for the heads up man. Will try to get something for the locks. Do they sell u-locks or any durable locks over there? Cos its kinda hard to get a decent one over here.

Its almost the same here then, but the traffic here is A LOT more worst I tell you. Well, I plan to commute to class with my bike, I'm just concerned about the bike. People don't steal bikes/bike parts there right?

Thanks for the info, really appreciate it.
