There wasn't a straight tent recomendation thread. :)
I don't believe the wieghts of the single pole tents as there is just one pole. Think that the colemans aren't single skin as it looks exactly like my old coleman tent but that wieged less due to the aluminium pole and aluminium pegs.

This is a good wee tent http://www.coleman.eu/UK/c-416-kraz8482.aspx- my friend had one when we did the west highland way at the start of spring and the weather was awful. Shit if you've got more than 65l of gear as there's nowhere to store it. It's light and easy to put up.
I always think if spend as much on your tent as you do on your jacket you won't go far wrong.

I recently started using a Jack Wolfskin Gossamer.
1.5kg one person tent.
Packs down silly small and easy to carry.
goes up very quick and comes down equally fast.
very small on the inside and as a result a fairly fastidious regime of organisation is required to make it comfortable. Wouldnt recommend for anyone over 5 10, but a 80 quid its a bargain for anyone under that.
Survived two days pitched and unattended in ridiculous thunderstorms over the last weekend.
low profile and good for stealth camping.
Inner is mesh so there you can get a breeze blowing under the outer. but i like this as i always boil in tents. -

Army issue poncho sheet, 4 bungees and 2 poles.....Easy!!

Thats the right idea. Alternatively, one tarp, one rope and one hammock if luxuries require...

I just take a knife and whittle a shelter at the end of the day.

And this just arrived in the post. Quite heavy but very slimline.
Now I can have fire where-ever I go.

Would any of these tents be acceptable being bungee corded to the top tube?
I've done this with sleeping bags before and found it didn't interfere with riding, but the extra weight and size might be a problem, with the tent swinging into the legs. -

I'm looking for a decent tent thats durable and doesn't cost more than £100. hopefully under 2kg. im 6ft tall so that also might be a consideration.
I don't have any experience with single wall tents, but i don't like the sound of condensation and the need for a thicker sleeping bag, so id rather have a tent with flysheet and inner. id also rather be enclosed so hammocks and tarp/bivvy arnt really my thing.
i was interested in the gelert solo http://www.outdoormegastore.co.uk/acatalog/Gelert_Solo_Backpacking_Tent.html
but i have concerns over its durability over several months of touring. if possible id like something similar with better quality construction.
i am however struggling to find many alternatives that arnt entering the expensive range, and outdoor shops rarely have any 1 man tents to view. anyone with some experience?

I got one of these http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/hi-gear-ion-2-p108986
packs down really small, about the same size as if you get a piece of A3 paper and touch the short ends together, but is pretty roomy inside, has groundsheet built in.... cheap as well 34.99, although I got mine for £24.99 as it was mislabeled in store (:

I ended up buying this:
http://www.springfield-camping.co.uk/Wild+Country/Tents/Duolite/1049/pc£145 and 2.4kg packed. Also fits perfectly in panniers.
This tent did 1 week in Scotland and 3 weeks in Europe cycle touring. The weather was shite and at times bloody soaking wet for days on end. Kept us dry and snug though, and it pitches and packs down really fast. A bit of a squeeze with 2 people but we could just fit 2 sets of panniers inside the porch bit too.

I'm on the hunt for my long-trip long-term-investment tent.
Anyone know of anywhere in/around London that stocks Hilleberg?

Not sure if it has had a shout yet but I toured Ireland with a Vango Banshee 300 which was awesome, and has withstood some hectic weather. I looked at the 200 as well which is lighter but a bit snug for two - however would be great for one person and is sub-2kg.
For £75 you can't go wrong, google and ye shall find.
^ Not really lightweight at 2.5Kg, and then I would take that with a pinch of salt too - depends what you want - for the money I'd say go for it - are they single skin? Condensation
