I tried that first. ;o)

I never said jamming - "gently push" - i was trying it with a chain tool the other day and it just wasn't happening.

Oh definitely those couplers are a fantastic idea, wonder whether someone will rip off the idea and bring it to a lower price point?
Still fair bit less than a rohloff and those couplers.
well defiantly, i'm sure eventully someone will work out a cheep way to make it do the same thing, always the way. maybe not next week but soon enough
ahh see, i had a peugot given to me, spent £150-70
bouught a second peugot in 501 for £40 spent nothing

It's just the Lightweights and the horrid tanwalls that have absolutely no place on this bike.
they are fm-boyaux tubulars so not really horrid tanwalls IMHO .. visually though they do nothing for this build.

Or just put it in a chain tool and give it 1/8th of a turn; much more controllable than jamming a screwdriver in there.
I just get the pin centred by eye then flexing the chain on the newly inserted pin (90deg to the way it should bend) Give it enough pressure and this seems to loosen the link up nicely. Dunno how it works but it's a technique passed down the generations of my old club.

the point being that there is a better, more accurate way to do it, as suggested by mdcc_tester
if you wish to find out more i'd suggest you do the ctuk mechanics courses

+1 to the oz technique.
Yep, that is how I have always done it and never had a problem in 30+ years.
Must remember to hand it down to my son as I actually thought of it myself. I wonder if they do a chain install Xbox game as that may be the best way to get his interest up in bike mechanics.

That's a toy bike, as in a scale model... still horrible.

I reckon you may have missed the point about the pictured Pinarello being worse than the new Bianchi's

I'm obviously not up with the way the kids are talking these days. I think I might have written a sentence including the word Pinarello if I'd wanted to comment on the Pinarello. Being
tiresomely persnicketythorough, I'd have linked to the Bianchi with which I was comparing it too. -

Sorry for being so brief. I had just been looking at the 2011 Bikes thread and saw the new Bianchi Pistas, Red-White and Blue-White, and I thought the Pinarello would be aimed at a similar market so drew the comparison. Either way it's a dog.

It's an overpriced German alternative to a Moulton so Architects and Designers can differentiate themselves from scum.

It's an overpriced German alternative to a Brompton
Surely?

Woops.

It's a German alternative to a Brompton and at an almost Moulton price
Or just put it in a chain tool and give it 1/8th of a turn; much more controllable than jamming a screwdriver in there.
