what do these people do when the traffic light gets stuck on red?
-
• #1229
A red light is a red light - the law says stop, so you stop.
If you're an anarchistical (new word, go me!) type who wants to play by your own fucking rules don't moan when you get a £30fp
Maybe we should remove all traffic laws and then see how safe we are on the roads
end rant

Keeping the forum streets clean and tidy, like.TBH it is my opinion and i'm entitled to it, however i appreciate it is the minority view so you won't find me spouting it off in every thread about it.
Anyway the world would be boring if everyone had the same opinion
Just wait till i find the thread on wearing helmets..... :D

Of course you're entitled to your opinion. You'll find that there's a lot of them around here...
I was just remarking at boldness of one so new.
Looks like you got off lightly, which is no fun.I won't be going in the helmet thread, but I do hope you enjoy your stay. :)

I'm casting my vote for RLJing being for wankers.
If you don't wait for that red light to go out I just don't think you've got any excuse for whinging like a cunt if it all goes a bit soggy. The rules are there for a reason and it's not rocket science to understand the consequences of your actions. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen is what I say.
Until the timer tells you it's go time, that it.
We're still talking about pies right?

They are everywhere this morning! Be AWARE, all up the hipster highway right the way to Holborn. They're on foot, bikes and motorbikes, I saw at least 5 people being pulled.

I haven't seen any West for a while... I'm thinking it's overdue that they blitz Kensington.

Baldbuzzard
There are actually a few experiments that show reducing traffic signs and controls increases peoples sense of personal responsibility so they drive/ ride more safely
(why the fuck am I even bothering with this shite)
Also my worst ever accident was caused by waiting at a red light the car behind me misread the traffic lights and drove straight into the back of me.

To be fair there James, the fault lay neither with the red light nor your waiting at it. Such witless incompetence on behalf of the driver implies that the accident would most likely have happened anyway.

I tend to obey almost all red-lights these days. Don't give a fuck if others don't.
However, Oliver Schick jumped a red on the overnight to Brighton. FACT

yep... including me, Theobolds road, creeping through a quiet junction at about 2mph... bang to rights to be fair.
coppers are still unable to explain why they don't enforce infringements at ASLs, and the officer in question told me that the reason that he was specifically enforcing RLJing by cyclists (not vans, buses, cars, motorbikes) is that RLJing by cyclists is the highest cause of **cyclist **fatalities in London... i didn't have the stats to hand to challenge this assertion but surely that's BS?

But I am mentally scarred for life
Well that's my excuse for rlj these days
-

Its cars running reds that tend to cause fatalities, not bikes
-
• #1248
I thought it was poor positioning of bikes at junctions coupled with unsatisfactory detection systems on lorries and buses along with improperly designed traffic systems which allow too large vehicles to navigate roads and junctions which are generally too small. I might be wrong though, so please do correct me.

coppers are still unable to explain why they don't enforce infringements at ASLs*
*Because it's a bit of a grey area, the ASLs that is, here's what the CTF said about it;
*
Breaching the first line and entering the box is not currently an offence. Contravening a red traffic light is the offence but this is if the line by the lights is crossed. As I stated before we are working on this and will hopefully make the relevant changes to the current legislation. I am no expert on traffic legislation and am only taking advice from traffic who are the met experts.

Probably BS, but it does sound likely, I'm not surprise they're focusing on this, they're breaking the law after all.
Well done. Bikeradar is over there >>>
