umm, i haven't found anything, i feel it must be hackable though.
it also weighs 2.3kg. compared to the lighter Shimano in both versions.

everyone moans about rollhoff and sram hubs because of the gripshift style shifters. Surely you can run these though:
They've got an extra click for 8 speeds and i'm sure that lever clicks the indexing off. These are brilliant in use, has anyone tried them?

looks awesome dude.
i did love those white industries cranks though... -

not going to work with a Rohloff - they have two wires and the indexing is in the hub.

Thats annoying. A similar design with 2 barrel adjusters could work, or you could use a motorbike style throttle (I always used to hate giving up grip space for the shifter). I can't belive that rohlhoff hasn't come up with a better / alternative shifting solution.

Um, you'll need a dynohub though, I'm presuming those are your final wheels, so unless you want to buy dynohub and rebuild your front wheel?
I was eagle-eyeing those sort of dynamo lights, and I like the idea of not having any trouble fighting wiry wires.
Looks like I'll be spending few days hunting for the light and decent leather saddle bag!and for the lock, I have to carry the way it is now I guess...

• #33383
exactly! there's my dilemma...
but since can't be bother to change the hub and I really like the current one,
I think I'm gonna go for either this

They're pretty shit if you want something to see ahead of you, it'll be just about enough to let other know of your presence but that it.
you'll need this topic;

And these for the rear:
pre-WWII battery powered lights.
(PM me to see if I can arrange something) -

sopariva
please, where did you get those lush bars from ?????? want !!!!!! -
• #33389
Where you get these lights?
The most convenience is dynamo light powered by the hubs, you can even attach it to the axles without having any fussy wiring.
You really only have two choice about the lock, buy a smaller (but stronger) one that you can carry on your belt with those fabric horse lock holster, or carry it in your bag.
the problem with painting it is that it's covered by a rubber coating and it's there to prevent it from getting smashed by liquid nitrogen (and your bike will attach the eyes of thieves).

soperRiva - you will need an extender to fit a bar bag on with those butterfly bars due to the curve. Nice build btw.
Oh and dont worry - you see a lot more of them on the continent (the bars) although you will get plenty of odd looks in the UK (g/f did when she was running them anyway) -

finished Geekhouse:
weighs quite a bit more..... but awesome!!!!
totally a project as well- decisions to make about kit and stuff.
and yes, the panniers are the wrong way round....How are you finding the gear ratio range? I'd be worried about getting low end hauling power out of anything internal geared other than a Rohloff.
Also, why's the rack up so high?
Beautiful though, no doubt.

why's that? are non Rohloff hub gears generally seen as being not so hot for a touring bike?

Henry... I fucken loooooooooooooooooooooooooove it!!!!!!!!!

very good low ratio.
feels lower than my lowest road bike gear.
highest feels like big ring and 3rd smallest sprocket. This has the best gear change ratios after the Rohloff. neither shimano comes close:
http://www.hubstripping.com/review/gear%20steps%20group%20c.jpg
(the new 11spd Alfine has decided to have the same initial few gear steps- which is poor- Rohloff can be seen as near optimal)the racks high, because traditionally disc brake + rack= problems.
so the choice is:- disc brake specific rack
- higher mounts.
Marty decided Higher mount points would be more sensible, giving me more choices of rack.
Thanks Josh
@ danb- what's an extender? (forgive my ignorance)
- disc brake specific rack

It's all about gear ratio range for fully loaded touring. Plus it's nice to have small steps between gears to maximise efficiency and minimise fatigue. While the Imotion9 does have a large ratio range, it's still way behind the rohloff.

dont read this thread much, but good to see Sopa Rivas latest,
my 2010 hub geared 29er is running awesomely,
used some 700x35 tyres on 700 k.m ride recently, pumped am up hard and I was rolling faster than plenty of the lightweight tourers on the group,
the 8 speed alfine is available with rapid fire shifters, presumably the 11 speed coming out next month will too,
admittedly wasnt loaded up, but 14.5 thousand metres climbing put the set up to the test- didnt manage to break it even with that amount of flogging. go try.
good post above^^ agreed with that about ratios, will be getting 11 speed Alfine built a.s.a.p -
• #33398
very good low ratio.
feels lower than my lowest road bike gear. You running double or triple on the road bike?
-
• #33399
double.
I seriously, seriously doubt that i will ever need a lower gear.
in fact, i'm thinking about gearing up.*m.f if you have a photo, i'd like to see your set up.

I would also like the answer to this question. I can't seem to find a trigger shifter or any word of a bar end working with it. the grip shift is posing a bit of a dilemma in the project that currently only exists in my head.
Really nice work on the geekhouse though, it looks like a serious bit-o-kit.
