  • Cheers Mr. Tester. Cracking deals however I do need the 172.5s. Must talk the other half out of the Record cranks taken from her Pinarello.....

  • Any suggestion for front light?
Also trying to find alternative way to carry the lock, kinda looks ugly that way (I'm a girl.. sorry!)

The most convenience is dynamo light powered by the hubs, you can even attach it to the axles without having any fussy wiring.

You really only have two choice about the lock, buy a smaller (but stronger) one that you can carry on your belt with those fabric horse lock holster, or carry it in your bag.

the problem with painting it is that it's covered by a rubber coating and it's there to prevent it from getting smashed by liquid nitrogen (and your bike will attach the eyes of thieves).

  • I do need the 172.5s.

This is always good for a laugh. In tests, 10 out of 10 cats can't tell when you swap just one of their cranks for one of 2.5mm different length.

  • :-)

Usually I'd tell you to stop being a melt, but today you make me smile.

  • I have two cats so I will have to run a smaller set of sample data. Just going by what I know works from my own cyclefit data - I don't know enough to start dicking around with it so keeping with what I know. Me <> You, your mileage may vary, blah blah blah, etc...

Ha! Except we've swapped my Record 1725's for 1650's ... I might notice the difference if only one had been swapped!

  • I finished "project mixte" today, but I have no pictures so it renders this post useless, ah well i'll try and get one or two up tomorrow

  • finished Geekhouse:

weighs quite a bit more..... but awesome!!!!
totally a project as well- decisions to make about kit and stuff.
and yes, the panniers are the wrong way round....

there have been quite a few changes from:

see if you can get them all.

I switch between 165 and 172.5 cranks all the time and I never notice any difference.

  • coming along, bit by bit. i was about to buy a seatpost, then found one that polished up lovely and hey presto! does anyone know if timec seatposts are any good? now just waiting for campag: mirage chainset, headset + brakes, veloce gears, and athena hubs with cd4 rims, and also some 100mm stem to go with my 26.6 sakae road champion bars. also some lovely yellow decals coming (i hope) from australia.

colour is becoming a topic of heated debate with everyone who sees it

  • love that color.
also need a handlebar bag, any suggestions- would like one that could fit a gps/ Map/ Route sheet, please.

Looking good, Henry. Are you happy with it?

  • pretty happy, tomorrow's ride will tell me all i need to know.

It rides really, really well with the hub gear.
    4th is perfect pootling around.
    and it goes to 9!

  • slangen, it was you that had that amazing tommassinni lo pro wasnt it? what happened to it, would love to see it in its current form. also the hill special is magnificent, whats the specs?

edit: silly me, just checked you flickr

I was eagle-eyeing those sort of dynamo lights, and I like the idea of not having any trouble fighting wiry wires.
Looks like I'll be spending few days hunting for the light and decent leather saddle bag!

and for the lock, I have to carry the way it is now I guess...

  • Thanks for your kind words.

I have been looking for a Columbus Air 650c fork for the Tommasini and finally found a NOS one branded Chesini.

    That's a lovely build ... shame it don't go to 11 though \m/

  • when i show you the ease of removing the rear wheel...
then you'll see the mastery behind the decision...
soon we can have an internal hub posse

After a bike fit with Sherrit, I now understand why I didn't ride so comfortably on the Pinarello, as I do on the Alan. Both bikes having the same frame dimensions, but the Pinarello had 172.5's, the Alan 165's - the latter being the right length for little long-legged (apparently) me. With any luck the Pinarello will be the subject of my first self-build post on here this weekend ... back to the latex gloves go I ...

good work, post pics when its done!

  • Henry, I need to ride your Freakhouse so I can see how the SRAM 9 speeds hubs work in comparison to the Alfine, South?

Oh are you still going to wait for the Singular handlebar?

  • where are you currently?
i could ride over to wimbledon tomorrow, easily.

and unless it has a very specific tubing size, no.
the shifter for the SRAM only works on 22.2 diameter bars, which is a cunt....

  • I think this is awesome, stirling effort.

  • Notting Hill picking up some delicious doughnut from the market in the morning and heading to central afterware.

The grip shifter is all you can get with the SRAM?
