  • I honestly don't think I'll ever fit a lo pro. Am i missing out?

To get a rough idea just ride in the drops 100%, no cheating and moving to hoods/tops at any point at all as would not have that choice.

  • anyone know what tires these are? I want some gumwalls but they need to be clincher and 23mm or less. oh, and have decent puncture protection as they'll be used on the road

  • excuse the chainset, any idea what forks these are?

  • rode 100 miles on my dave yates fixed lo pro on sunday and its set up in a similar fashion with bullhorns but i admit to running a brake, so its possible to go further. whether or not it comes recommended is a very different issue!

did southend on your old lo-pro EEI
it hurt but its definitely possible.
first ride longer than 30 miles as well.

  • lo-pro's aren't as bad as people make out.

The hand position isn't that much lower than riding on the drops the whole time, which should be perfectly doable on your bike. Have a look at the height of the drops compared to the tyre of a low-pro vs a track bike.

Also what is important but missed is the seat tube angle, as it determines how much weight is placed on your hands, any bike with a very steep seat post is going to be uncomfortable because you body is balanced on your hands.

If you get your lo-pro built to match your road bike, as I did back in 1990, the contact points line up precisely from one to the other. We've been through this a million times.

Ed will wheel* out that picture of a fuji track in a minute.

    *pun totally intended.

  • the problem people have with lo pros is probably down to the fact that they never ride in the drops 100% of the time so cannot deal with it. I ride in the drops more than 80% of the time but it is nice to sit up sometimes...

  • The problem people have is using them outside their intended purpose. They were for pursuits and short distance time trials*, where you'd be on the drops 100% of the time.

*Short by RTTC standards, i.e. distance events rather than time events.

  • Obligatory "Who makes those wheels?" enquiry.

And yet people ride track bikes on the street, where in their intended purpose not riding on the drops is disqualification.

I don't like the welded triple triangle on that bike, oh and for a low pro the hand position is very high when using that many spacers so whats the point?

  • It's because it wasn't designed for TT/Pursuit in the first place, just a fixie skidder with a low-pro appearance, like the Cinelli MASH.

And the spacer is pretty normal, far from excessive.

True the front brake should have told me that.

Does skidding work with a belt drive?

  • well, I'm sure you know it does, after all it's a fixed wheel transmission with belt instead of chain.

  • well, I'm sure you know it does, after all it's a fixed wheel transmission with belt instead of chain.

I was more thinking of the rigidity of the belt as opposed to chain which i thought would be quite different

  • think of all the belts used in a car...

Aren't the drive belts they'ere using for bikes carbon/kevlar weave or some spaceage something?

  • The problem here is that you're thinking of belt as a piece of rubber that stretch, which is far from it.

There's a discussion about it, it's defintely the next big thing.

  • I can't imagine this not being a repost - but I think i just fell in love a little bit

  • ^ apart from strange construction of what appears to upper headset bearing, it's ok

  • i think max has already got hisd hands on this by the looks of it
    re painted and very tall
