    Mountgrove road, n5

Tiny, pokey, cluttered treasure trove of awesomeness. Complete with funny opening hours(not open sun/mon usually), shop cat(Cassius) and no price tags.
Take Rob a beer on a sunny afternoon and he's the best shopkeeper in the world. Great library of cycle books and memorabilia to gaze upon as well.

He also recently built a frame for Zombies United, but y'all probably know that already.

  • Good shout. I shall have to visit their one day soonish.

  • Shop newly opened on Fortis Green road, just next to Muswell Hill Broadway (N10). They used to be on Avenue Mews off the broadway. Very helpful and competent, not particularly SS/FG specific but do sell some SS and Fixed bikes and have sorted me out with things like freewheel etc. recently. Would be a good addition to the list IMO

  • I will give a good reference for GB Cycles in Croydon, well worth the trip...Good roadie store!

Will drag stock out of the back for you if you ask nicely :)

Also, they stock Planet X and Eddy Merckx... Eddy Merckx track is available there :)

  • After scouring the usual suspects including Evans/Cycle Surgery/Comptons for a pair of 16"Marathon Plus's I thought I'd pay Velorution a visit for the first on the off-chance they stocked them. I knew they didn't stock a huge number of components so I wasn't hopeful. Sure enough they were in stock in the workshop and accepted LCC discounts no quibbles. An unusually quiet shop for a Saturday, with an interesting stock of bikes, books, Brooks paraphernalia and quirky clothing.

  • not sure if this has been posted elsewhere (probably) but there is a Tokyo Bike pop up launch party happening http://Tokyobike.co.uk/

  • So who are this outfit? I must admit that I'd never heard of them.

  • From what I gather they are actually a Japanese company (as apposed to just using 'Tokyo' to sound cool) who are pretty big in Japan. They are starting up here for the first time and did some organised rides for the Clerkenwell Design week recently. Might be worth a look in....

  • Yesterday was the turn of VAIDAS Bicycles. I popped in there and met Vaidas. Yes, he is actually a lovely bloke. His repair prices are cheap,
and he does really know his stuff. Very highly recommended.

Tokyo Fixed Gear, Peter Street, W1
Depends how busy they are - only one full-time mechanic.

  • hi all,

i am looking for the good bike shop in central of london to do full checking and repair service of my road bike. i just have been to The London Bicycle Workshop at Clerkenwell Road this morning and they said they will charge me around 100 quids for full checking service including adjust the rims gear and brakes plus £25 more for taking off one bolt of the back of the rear brake because the head is not perfect. can not take it off by alley key. do you guys think it is reasonable price? or can any one recommend any good bike shop around w1 area?

  • I can recommend that you use the search bar in the upper right hand corner of the screen....all the answers are there....

  • LBW are good guys who do good work.

    Oh, and UTFS

  • i did search for '' the london bicycle workshop '' before posting and not thing have come up. just wanna know any feedback about their service and their price or any good shop nearby...?

  • My guess is if you seem completely stupid and without a clue they might just take the piss anywhere. If you do some basic research and demonstrate that your cranium is not totally vacuous then most places will be able to help.

Shockingly there is no search facility either here or on the interwebs to help you with your really difficult question.

  • Oh, just trying one search stream out is not really a comprehensive attempt.

  • Anyone know of a shop in London that sells Continental Touring Plus tyres?
Im pretty sure Evans dont as they dont have any on their website

  • Which shops serve the practical bike end of the market in London? I'm talking cargo bikes, high vis, hippies. The whole lot.

  • bikefix does cargo bikes i think and hi viz

    what are hippies?

The stoke newington branch was open for trade as normal about a fortnight ago

  • Next time someone passes by the Stokey branch, can you maybe point them in this thread's direction, or get the low down on whats going on?

Of course, as usual, the payment is the same, a shipping container full of Snickers bars.....if you can lift it without any powered mechanisms. ;)
