Stolen bikes

  • Was in croydon today and saw a tacksuited chap riding a very nice, brand new looking eddy merckx road bike in black and red with odd shaped down tube. Must have cost at least a grand.

  • Spotted just after 6pm 4 black youths riding down from Broadway Market to Hackney Road, along Bishops Way towards Vicky park, rjling all the way... 1 on a small white Langster. Perhaps they weren't all stolen but the way he was handling the Langster makes me pretty sure that it was. Plus it looked too small for him.

  • ^^^^^^^^ racist

  • ^^^^^^^^ racist

If the langster was white, he has to say white.
    That's not racistizism.

  • go on then have some rep for that!

  • ah, nuknow, thanks....
seriously, I think there was only one such model, no? Sorry if I'm wrong.

  • I saw the Klien MTB on hyde park corner about at 1.45 I couldnt pull over due to traffic to check the bike out. But it was deffinetly the same frame. Guy who had it looked legit, longish blond hair, pony tail about 6'2

  • to whoever is kind enough trying to ring me re dolan bike, i am so sorry i keep missing your calls, i got your voice message, please do try again, i really appreciate your time

  • ...last year they stole 2 ....

    Yes, but who are they?

This the Orange Klein full susp? I'm holding out hope for it as that's the third spot, albeit in different places. Definitely been sold on but would love to find out who has it and try and get it back!

  • Yeah it was an orange fade klein full sus

  • Reading this just reminded me - I spotted this orange Klein on Sunday around 17.30 heading north up Kingsland Road. Sorry, meant to mention in then but slipped my mind. Was on a bus at the time so little I could do to check the guy out but he was as described above - blonde or ginger pony tail. Best of luck locating it!

    Ginger on a ginger bike?

I wonder if it has been sold on again because that description is nothing like the guy I saw on it when I posted that I had seen it.

Possible, I wouldn't be too surprised if someone had bought it off the kids on Brick Lane for £150 and sold it on for profit. If you knew what you were looking at then you could make easy money. It's nearly 2k to replace it with a similar bike according to my insurance comp...

Still, if anyone sees the ponytailed rider or otherwise let me know! I'm on 07851615733 and would grudgingly buy it back if that's what it took.

  • I've used the one you mentioned but found you couldn't get access to the database. There is a new free register service that lets you list stolen bikes among other things - bikerevolution.org

  • Just got a phone call from Sergeant Chris Scott, Stoke Newington Police, about my nicked/recovered wheel last week.
The cctv footage (albeit good quality), caught nothing/no one, so no case here.
It all ended well, so I'm happy obviously.
I've also recommend Sarg. C Scott to have a look at this thread, him being a cyclist and part of the bike
Police team can only help in the future, hopefully.

  • OK I suspect my bike has been stolen but I'll probably get an earful from everyone for the way it was "locked". It's a Universal Fusion I've been using while I build my SS and was gonna sell it to a mate on Saturday.

Left outside my house in Balham in the front yard D-locked to itself BEHIND my neighbour's Specialized road bike which was locked in the same was but untouched. I know it's stupid but it's been locked that way for 6 months with no bother...fuck.

The lock's worth more than the bike...double fuck.

The moral is...don't not lock your bike up. I should have known better.

  • You won't get an earful if you're honest, honestly go a long way.

nobody notice because they though it was locked to something (by the sound of it), until a couple of scallywag decided to have a closer butcher at it, realised it's freelocked and nicked it.

the number of time it been like that doesn't make it a better way to lock it.

  • I got my bike back!!!! :D

A lovely man found it in Brighton and saw my bike on here and returned it to me last night!!!

He said there were quite a few bikes, it was recovered from near the marina, there is apparently a car boot sale down there and he bought it from some travellers - funnily enough there were travellers in viccy park the weekend my bike went missing (not saying anything, read from that what you will!)

Good luck to anyone else looking for their bikes - hopefully you will have the same good fortune as me.....right I'm over to the insurance section on this forum now!!

  • Go lfgss! Top banana.

  • I got my bike back!!!! :D

Nice one, always nice to hear some good news for once.

  • Does anybody know of anybody that has lost a black and yellow Schwin bike, a silver GT, or an old black or red Moulton? If so call Hackney Police on 02071619027 and speak to Sergeant Chris Scott.
