  • i dont quite get what you mean?

    because your saddle is tilted forward to such as extent that it places more pressure on your wrists from your body weight being pushed forward. Hence it will hurt your wrists.

  • yea... only cause crank is silver.

  • yea... only cause crank is silver.

    True. Tyres will be black either way though

  • That aqua bike is a perfect road bike! don't convert it, just either sell it or get a new/old frame and start from there.

    I have a proper road bike in the stable. This trek is my school bike. Never really ridden fixed before and though I'd give it a try. I work at a bike shop in Texas and thought I'd put something together out of stock parts. Don't want to sell it but I also don't want to buy a new frame.

  • That aqua bike is a Trek? didn't realise it's a Trek, the fact it have campag doesn't help either!

    if you never ridden fixed before, build some cheap wheelset, Open Pro to formula/amborsio/System EX/etc. hubs will do the jobs, as lovely as Phils are, the latter are plenty enough to last you age and still spin perfectly.

  • Thanks to Henry for hooking me with up with some fly bars and a shit hot basket so I look rad cycling around waterloo on this bad boy.

  • There is already loads of stem showing. If he/she swaps it for a seep drop one they'll have to pull it up an extra 1/2". Track drops would likely mean pulling it up some more.

    I'd put some zero drop bull horns on it, and place them half way between where the tops and drops are now. lowering the stem.

    Colour-wise, I'd go with beige saddle and tape, together with black gum-walled tyres (deda 'Camel' tape matches gum walls well). Keeping the componentry silver.

    Just my thoughts.

    Yeah agreed - but I do think the bars look a bit high as they are - could go lower for more agressive position - I was speaking from a purely aesthetic point of view, and what i thought would look best...

  • awesome, must've been pretty fun to ride.

  • Components are Titan Stem, Stratalite Madison Bars, Stronglight 49D cranks, Lyotard Berthet Pedals, Airlite Hubs, Mavic MA2 rims, Panaracer 27 x 1 tyres.

    Sorry, I know it was two days ago but just saw this pic now. Very nice frame and components. What brake lever is that? Also, and what I really want to know is, what make of wing nuts ?

    nae worries.
    it didn't quite work on my titchy frame.
    on that it looks sick

  • some good ideas for what tot do with mine...

  • Everything about that GT is stunning, minus the saddle naturally.

    never though alu fork would look so right on that GT.

    *t <

  • We had a pre-owned version of that GT in our shop for a while, but it was obviously a bit dirtier. If I'd known it could look like that....

  • Out with the old;

    In with the new;

    Best thing about it? it cost me less than £600, including the bike itself, bargainous.

  • And,do you notice a big difference?

  • Did you use a quill to aheadset adapter? Is it better than a quill stem? Wanna see full side.

  • Yup, so much easier riding with ergoshifter and 10spd, the new cockpit helped a lots too.

  • Changing the callipers will give you way more stopping power too.

    Ed, what are you doing with the old stuff?

  • Looks good Ed. Nice work.

  • There's more clearance for bigger tyres on the old callipers than the new one, but yes the stopping power is mundane at best on the old Chorus callipers.

    It's a bit easier with the ergolevers though.

    Ta Andy.

    will post some more recent pics soon

  • Ed have you got a side on?

  • Let just says it's pretty ugly with the stem, but unless there's an oversized quill stem, it's the only option for the Deda Newton bar, just need to get the Open Pro laced to Amboriso hubs to match the rear;

    Is it possible to slam the stem so there is no/or less quill adapter to see?
