Change your mind?
This is also a good point. It looks like a nice bike as is. Pick up a cheap frame T'bay or something, maybe, and fix that.

@nefarious, when asm and i had the matching pair of lo pros we both found them extremely comfy after a few tweaks.
also @ malaysian, the saddle to bullhorn drop looks bad, but as ed will explain soon, isn't.@nefarious, it is lovely. good job.

they're alright, but i'm pretty stretched out forward - seems a good position to really get power down. i want to put some tt bars on it at some point too and see how they feel too, if only for the craic.
I recently swapped out my classic drops for near identical bars on my BJ. I still have the drops set-up for quick swaps. But I wanted to create a cruising position which did'nt involve cupping imaginary hoods.
The stretched forward feeling takes some getting used to, but it does free your legs some. I put ~130km on this bike over the weekend, and was notably faster, as I could spin down long decents better. I found a surprising number of comfortable hand positions too.

@ Nefarious, how do your wrists cope with that saddle angle?!

Why do I have the feeling that Ed's gonna post that diagram/picture again???

That aqua bike is a perfect road bike! don't convert it, just either sell it or get a new/old frame and start from there.
@ Precise, because Sopa mentioned it?
it's true though, look at this;

I'm going fixed on this one. I've built some wheels with track hubs - phil woods on Open Pros. Silver seems to work pretty good. Any suggestions on changes?
Beautiful roadie. Going fixed will not hide the gear bosses or the cable stays or the bottle mounts. If it ain't broke. Up to you tho.

Surly in the hizz-ouse.
So far:
F&F in last year's colour £315
Chainset/BB from ebay £69.99 (RRP £125)
Shop soiled LX rear 36h hub £10
Hope headset from the Goff
3T stem from the goff (though this may well be changed)
Yay cheapeness! -

Nice one, almost got one but it end up being too small for me, rat.
almost finish the Colnago, it's now looking proper anti.

Too small? This thing's a monster - 65 cTT seat tube, 62 top tube! I'm going to have to shorted it up a bit with bar choice. I'm thinking Titec J bars
-
• #31463
I've always loved those bars, it'll look sweet Jammy!
-
• #31464
Oh and if you're getting rid of the Goff, I recon I could get at least two Morgan sized bikes out of the tubing...

Different Surly, a 54cm one that end up being 42cm realistically.

Just found this on a street corner. it had been dumped by one of hundreds of students leaving falmouth.
Ignore the crank and the wheels.
I have an old shimano 600 set to go on there along with some old weinman brakes and levers. with ambrosio stem and bars.
I have enough parts kicking around to build it up as a winter beater, all i need is a 27" wheel set (the wheels on it were made entirely of rust). -

Bloody students!
Good find, Be careful that you don't make it into a nice bike and then next term time get the "that's my bike" line.

ha it happened once with a friend of mine they moved into an old student house found a really nice mixte, sorted it out had it for ages before a girl turned up at the door asking if the bike she had left 8 months ago was still there and demanded it back.
Gutted.this one was leaning against a wall with no seat and two flat tyres and a chain so rusty it wouldnt even turn, i figure I should be alright. + as a bonus it was covered in mould and moss which seems to have stopped the frame and forks rusting.

Well out of order. Shouldn't have given it back to her. Everyone makes mistakes, but 8 months! That's a lot of storage money, probably much more than the bike was worth.

should've said no it's not here, it's at the dump instead.

The guards? Don't know, just liked the contrast.
There is already loads of stem showing. If he/she swaps it for a seep drop one they'll have to pull it up an extra 1/2". Track drops would likely mean pulling it up some more.
I'd put some zero drop bull horns on it, and place them half way between where the tops and drops are now. lowering the stem.
Colour-wise, I'd go with beige saddle and tape, together with black gum-walled tyres (deda 'Camel' tape matches gum walls well). Keeping the componentry silver.
Just my thoughts.
