  • OH FUUUUUuCK.

  • Which scrap merch!? We need to find it! Maybe the one just south of Surrey Canal Road, coppiThat? You are well placed to drop by there... scary looking place though.

  • Maybe the strange junk/curios place by St Johns bridge too.

  • holy shit all that history down at the local scrappies
where the heck is it ?
how is this kind of thing allowed to happen
that shop was treasure trove of bits and bobs a veritable alladins cave

  • knowing what the scrap metal places are like they dont have things sitting around for very long. people drive in with their dumper trucks , weigh in , dump off , get paid and drive out. it then just gets shovelled along with the cars and wheel rims. bear in mind its six days ago. i'll have a look in a minute though but dont expect good news.
to the scrap metal dealer those unused 531 tubes were just metal pipes.

  • fffffffffffffffffffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

  • very sad news.

  • crying shame, Hope barrie et al are sorted cash wise and that fucktoss Tony Maloney reaps what he's sown

  • SAD NEWS PEOPLE

i just found out that on saturday of last week the shop was cleared of all its bits and bobs which included unused 531 frame tubes, drop outs some frames , rims still in their wrapping paper, work stands, display cabinets and loads of other things. most of it would have been taken to the local scrap metal dealers. the clothing, the old rusty hetchings, barries old white track bike - what became of them hopefully not to the same place :-(

    This is a f***ing travesty!

I only went there a couple of times but they were incredibly helpful, giving me good advice and in fact talking me out of spending my money with them.

Very sad I won't be able to actually get them to build something for me now.

heavy ones at that, but not as nice as scaffold poles they are really heavy.

  • Quite remarkable given the upturn in demand for hand built steel bikes over the last three years. There must have been something badly wrong to fail in the current cycling boom.

  • Badly Wrong == Tony Malone.

(this is accepted wisdom, not an original opinion)

  • This is distressing to hear. It sounds as if any last hope to save Witcomb is now well and truly gone. Yes, hopefully the Witcombs are OK for money, and that the true story of what has been happening there for the last couple of years will come out eventually. Or not, depending on whether you want to give a lot of passionate followers of traditional frame builders heart conditions. :(

    ^this

  • had a look in the two most popular/obvious ones, these were the nearest to the shop. the staff there didnt recall anything, not sure if thats good, bad or promising news.

  • Fat chance finding anything in that mess.

  • can someone get roger cook out of retirement to find this maloney slime ball

  • he's running a tea museum up in pembrokeshire, I shit you not - this is his latest geegaw that he'll dispose of and fuck up once he's bored

[He bought a house up there with with his boyfriend and was going to relocate the witcomb workshop up there]

    wonder what happened to his

'oldkentroad' bicycle plans and the company he set up for bespoke carbon frames…

If people are cunts, so be it, but sacrificing a classic marque on your own vanity when the cycling industry is the healthiest it's been for years is cuntitude of the highest order

  • nice trenchcoat

  • Reckon you've got gloves and hats like those too. And Bert Kwok hiding behind your shower curtain.

  • How did you find that out Wayne? he appear to gone off the radar for quite a while now.

  • The tea thing was posted somewhere else.

The Witcomb thing is just a minor tragedy.
