Also, it shouldnt be a problem if I use, for example, an 8 speed bar end shifter with my 6 speed cassette right?
Nobody seems to have mentioned that an 8-speed indexed bar end shifter won't work with a 6-speed cassette because the sprocket spacing is different. If you switch to friction mode, you won't have a bunch of slack cable because the total cable pull for 8-speed is about the same as the total for 6-speed. The excess should be at the low gear end of the lever travel, so that the cable doesn't go completely slack in top gear.

I did consider that the indexing might be off but presumed the person that asked had already addressed this as they didn't ask about it.
I knew that a 7spd cassette will fit an 8spd freehub body with a spacer so presumed the sprocket spacing was the same and i thought the same might be true of the 6spd which is presumably a screw on block. -

I'm looking for this great bike mapping service but can't find the address. It's very much like bikely but a lot slicker and easier to use. Argh! It is really annoying me.
The URL was something like bikemaps.net. Anybody know what I'm talking about?

maybe?

Bikemap.net? I used to use it but have since moved to Ride with GPS (no GPS required) as it lets you keep track of rides and it nice and easy to use.

Whats the general vibe about applying your own choice of decal unto an unknown frame, say a Freddie Grubb decal to a frame I have no idea about? I could imagine that it might be frowned upon.
-
• #1171
I would frown upon it.
-
• #1172
I'd frown all over its tits.
-
• #1173
I have frowned upon it in the past too. Its just I might buy a frame that is unidentifiable and I would love it to have decals. Grubb was just an example.

Hay! You cant edit that post and add a picture of a chick dude... now it looks like I was talking about her.
