Personally I dont see how purchasing a steamroller could ever be a mistake, they are brilliant frames, especially if you like to abuse you bikes....in a loving way obviously.

They do the frame in a 1" though dont they?steamroller used to take a quill stem but they changed it to a-head a while ago

cant you just change the forks to ones that can take a quill stem?
-
• #282
the fork is 1 1/8 inch, where as a quill stem is 1 inch.

What bars are on there Pistaboy?
-
• #289
@maxcrowe - ha ha. I'd just picked up the Brooks and put it on... not my riding position - as i found out after setting off.
@trainwreck - the bars are the stock ones that came with the bike. The bar tape was just applied, so it makes them look a little thicker than they actually are.

Does anyone know what the stock handlebars on the steamroller are? I've looked at the surly website but it doesn't give much away. Failing that can anyone recommend any bars that are a similar shape (Ideally with a 25.4 clamp area)?
I built up a steamroller from the frameset about 6 months ago and have used flat bars since, I want to try some drops but only having a background in BMX I don't have a bloody clue where to start, but oddly enough I like the look of the steamroller stock ones. -

Trainwreck - try the Cinelli Criterium bar. Very comfortable.

Don't get the stock drops, at least not from when the frames were maroon coloured (08?), ugliest bars i've seen, they're like a straight bar with drops on the ends
get some proper ones, !Nhattattack!'s seems like a good choice

well a drop bar is a drop bar is a drop bar I guess. but from riding with them my advise is to get something better, especially since you can get some tatty, say, cinelli drops for not much cover in wrap for just a few quid
