• #256
I am contemplating getting one of these frames for doing some long rides and just bombing about can anyone give me some pointers about them like are they heavy good for what I want type thing?
Or would waiting for a second hand track frame be an option?
-
• #257
probably more suited than a track frame as they are designed as street fixed
-
• #258
Good point, I am swinging more to them over a second hand track frame...
I just aint to keen on the fork! -
• #259
What do you think is wrong with the fork?
-
• #260
its got massive clearance. no one likes it. can always put a different fork on tho.
-
• #261

WHAT?!? WHAT!!!
Why on earth wouldn't you want a crazy amount of clearance? It's ALL about the fatties for the winter/trail!
Bunch of god damned hipsters, the lot of you.

I really want something with a quill stem though!
They do the frame in a 1" though dont they? -
• #267
Not that I'm aware of, at least not in this country.
Join the revolution.

They are heavy, but then they are also super wicked rad awesome, so you should totally buy one. and stuff.
-
• #269
they are heavier than a Keirin frame, but lighter than many other frames.
-
• #270
It's called a steamroller. There's a clue in there to the weight.

They do the frame in a 1" though dont they? Why? Vintage shit just breaks...
-
• #272
Who said vintage?!
I was wrong with the frame sizes but you can still get frames that take quill stems today!I like the look of that Leader 722ts as well and near the same price with a fork at the Steamroller...
-
• #273
...but obviously choosing a leader over a surly would be ridiculous.
-
• #274
How so?
They are both nicely made steal frames I know the leader had some problems with its track ends but I here this have been solved on the new version of the frame.. -
• #275
How so?
Well, if you must ask, its like walking into White Hart Lane and trying to convert me into a gooner..... this is a Surly Steamroller thread. Evertything else is just shit*
:)*written in total jest, although there may be some truth to these words
So was that, Max.
