Hi guys quick question,
does anyone know this webshop ?
was looking for a new lock and this seemd too cheap to be true for the
Kryptonite forgetaboutit mini d-lock (56 quid):
http://www.google.co.uk/products?q=Kryptonite+New+York+Mini&hl=en&aq=for should i just go for the kryptonite evolution mini d-lock ?
same web shop for just 28 quid ?!
usually its close to 40,any recommendations ?
Parker International are fine, I've ordered from them many times.

suddenly im not so certain about my kryptonite lock!
-
• #433
nyquil....use the search.
-
• #434
yeah, kryptonite locks don't use those circular keys anymore. that video appears to be from toronto (unless there's another urbane cyclist) where bike crime is rife, at least as bad but probably worse than london.
the ny lock is one of the strongest on the markets, you can't do much better really... probably overkill if you're using it in brum though, but sometimes it's best to be overequipped.

yeah i just found it on another thread about locks. just posted it here incase you hadnt seen. i just found out its quite an old video. still nuts though

anyone had any experience of using a Surly conversion kit? Is it pretty straightforward?
Trying to achieve a decent chainline for the polo machine is going to be tricky.... any advice appreciated. -
• #437
what sort of conversion kit? I have a fixxer and a singluator. both pretty simple and excellent.

I was wondering about the singlespeed spacer kit. Slotting on a cassette cog to replace the cassette. Just wondered how this might hold up in a game of polo?
-
• #439
well i've never used one of them. shouldn't imagine a problem though. selling the others if anyone interested...
-
• #440
how does the fixxer work?
-
• #441
It replaces the cassette and the QR with a bolt through axle and the threads for a cog and lockring. I used it on an LX hub to make a fixed hub with 135mm spacing for a mtb, and then spaced it down to 120mm when i got a road frame. Have some iro hubs now so its not needed.

Why would you want to go to those lengths to ride fixed for polo, especially when freewheel is actually much more practical.

Single speed kits are really cheap. But for extra cheapness, you can either use a full cassette or a single sprocket from a cassette with some DIY spacers.

aye well it was from the days before £15 track hubs from on one...
-
• #444
there are still some persistent and high-flying fixers in the polo - it's definitely harder to attack quickly and shoot with your legs doing 120rpm though...
singlespeed kit would be the best bet, and gives you huge gearing/chainline flexibility.

attn: anyone
swapsies?
your 27.2 layback (as much as possible) seatpost, for my inline bontrager stepless adjustment, black, 27.2 seatpost - fairly scratched below about 20cm from the seat...
-
• #447
I think I have a 27.2 layback and I want an inline one. I'll have a look in the shed when I get home, and text you. This will be about 7.30pm
-
• #448
Its only about an inch layback though
-
• #449
inch'll be fine. i think mine may actually have about a 5mm 'offset' by the way...
-
• #450
thats fine
Can i take dibs on those forks up there?
