  • Re-cycled, check if your rims is capable of pushing 140psi first before you do so.

Ah, good point, its an open pro, i'l try and find out. And after all 120psi is plenty really.

  • I got the same rims, this is what the sticker said;

    19c - 146psi.
    28c - 117psi.

Cheers ed, well i'm running a 23mm so i'm guessing 120-30psi or thereabouts is about right.

  • if my calculation are correct, the max is 131psi for a 23c tyres.

boy I did not miss math GCSE in the slightest.

  • anyone tried to skid through these?

  • give me a pair and i will try them out, otherwise not spending money on contis

  • anyone tried to skid through these?

I don't think these have been quoted 367 times already. No, it's just me.

  • thanx dj, i will then do the 'testing' myself.

    meh

  • nukey, where exactly (on here anyway) as i seem to hit blanks.

  • sigh

my search is broken and so i bow down in awe!

edit: i discovered that correct writing does make a difference.

  • if skidding isn't a priority, are randonneurs still the business for a rear tyre?

  • Has anyone tried the new halo berlin courir tyre for skidding? I just popped a maxxis refuse after a month.

  • Im still yet to encounter a tyre that lasts longer than a marathon plus. Shits over the rando.

  • halo all the way

  • which halo ones? I'm using an old random tyre and its horrible to skid with at the moment.

Christ! Mine have been going solid for over a year, have you tried on of these I hear there excellent:

  • yeah mine were fine until I went brakeless. It seems they kind of melt on the road with the friction.

  • Panaracer RiBMo. Best rear tyre I've owned.

  • at polo people go through them as any other "good" tyre, nothing special, RiBMo is

  • yeah mine were fine until I went brakeless. It seems they kind of melt on the road with the friction.

It's entirely possible to ride brakeless without the need to do those show-skid.

Like skip skid for instance, and calculating the traffic ahead of you more carefully in future to adjust your speed accordingly, thus the less need to skid.
Resist the urge to skid everyday though, think about how much money you'll waste in buying new tyres every month or two.

Also don't ever skid on those red/green/blue (what's next?) painted lane, they kill tyres for breakfast.

  • I know. I don't show skid, I skid to stop. I think its a combination of bad surfaces and bad tyre.

  • Tyres' moot, I went through a year with Conti Grand Prix 4 seasons while riding brakeless, and they're not exactly skid-happy.

  • I would rather take the hit on the new randonneur every 6-8 weeks and enjoy drifting corners than worry about the cash... I look at it as it's only a few beers, and skidding around for a couple of months is way more fun than half a night out.
