  • For what its worth ever since I went fixed I've been using the same tyres that came with the bowery wheelset I bought, Kenda Kontenda's. While they're nothing special in terms of weight, looks or technical features no matter what I do I can't wear them out, especially the back one. The rear simply won't wear through no matter how much I skid.

  • After a month of use, I'm starting to see red on my rear armadillo.

Don't ever use armadillos on the front, they have no traction what so ever. Stick to the gp4000s for that job.

  • on the front or back?

I have one on the front, and two rear ones...

I have a mate who has a bowery and his kendas lasted well over year riding brakeless...

  • Fuck running a 23c at 145psi and super tough sidewalls must be the most uncomfortable tyre on the planet sounds like a terrible recomendation to me

    O'rly?
there darn cheap too for a folding tyre, 250g(according to kendas site), look good, I might get some. ut what do they ride like?

  • 145psi = super duper fixie skidder - fuck comfort you can be comfortable when you're in bed!

  • i do like the kendas that came with my bowery tbh
rear skidded flat but not through on stock gearing after 3 months

Not sure these are folders. They're just bargain basement tyres as far as I'm aware. they're not bad. Slightly bigger being a 26c but quite comfortable and fairly indestructible !

  • durano = stelvio ? correct ?

Correct, it is the stelvio replacement apparently.

theres wire and folding ver. folding is cheaper for some reason...... 23c and 26c also.

  • So does anyone know where I could find information on what is the lowest profiled tyre?
I know that gran compe tyres fit in the GH1, but that Rando's don't.
    Anyone got any useful sources?
I don't really want to go down below 23c....

  • Does a Rando 28 not fit on the rear?

  • or are you talking about fork clearance?

  • I've been testing the Schwalble Durano Plus 23c Folding tyre for work the past month or so. Its amazing. Thought I'd just mention it incase any one is looking for a tyre to run at 145PSI with super tough walls, excellent puncture resistance, great longevity, really nice hard compound, amazing grip even in the wet, fast and with awsome text. I think I've found my new favourite tyre. Its proper nice. I encourage others to give it a try. Any one else tried one out?

Are you skidding the durano how long do you reckon it will last?

  • ok I know it's slightly off topic, but I'm having a bit of a scoble moment here. Has anyone had any experience of putting 32c Schwalbe Marathon plus' on a deep V?
am I flogging a dead horse? I'm beginning to think I am..

  • I have done it, its not impossible, but could be a bit hard... try again

  • its possible. So Im told.

  • Are you skidding the durano how long do you reckon it will last?

    Yes.
I reckon about the same as the Soma. 3-4 months.

  • I just got a soma super everwear from tokyo fixed yesterday, will update on its performance in a couple of weeks/months...

Its definetly a very tough looking tyre, feels almost solid! i wonder how it will ride.

Oooh. Should of come to us. £5 cheaper :P

But seriously, they are really nice. Last for ages. Get 'em up to 140PSI and feel the love :)

Really... damn! thing is tfg is much closer to me...

I pumped them up too 120psi, i was a bit hesitant about going as high as 140 psi but i might give it a go.
The bloke in tfg reckoned if you didnt skid "too much" you could probably get a years use out of one, considering the cost if thats true then i think its money well spent.
