  • You might still get it back!

Saw this lot a while back, and by the thread responses quite well known. Not sure if that helps or not but probably the same little bastards.

cheers for the heads up and good on you for chasing them away- I think that these must be the bastards as when I spoke to security at my work after I found out my bike had disappeared, he mentioned he'd chased away some kids that morning after a warning from a neighbouring building. however, I bloody wish he had told us inside that thieves were about - god I'm seriously gutted right now :'( what scum

  • You might still get it back!

I really really x10000 hope so!!!!

  • This evening outside Decathlon in Surrey Quays I saw a bike get stolen. I say saw it but it happened so fast due to a shitty cable lock which the guy (who had his back to me) cut so fast (literally seconds) I thought he had unlocked it with a key. I was inside the store and ironically was keeping an eye on my own bike through the window due me being slightly suspicious. The guy cut the lock so quickly and casually and took his time to get on a ride off I thought I was wrong in being suspicious as that was his bike and carried on getting what I needed. It was only when I came out and saw the actual owner looking lost I realised what had happened. The most shocking part of the story is turns out the guy is in the police and didn't have the frame number and was using a cheap cable lock. Showed him my Fagh and tried to encourage him to buy a decent lock for the next bike he gets. I didn't see what lock he had but the way the guy took it off literally as quick as it would take to open with key was frightening and no effort whatsoever.

  • Christ, I can't keep up with this thread - so many stolen. Perhaps a gallery would be useful..

You lock that thief magnet up outside at all, let alone for 3 hours outside a tube station with a shitty cable lock? Thieves are scum but you don't need to make it easy for them. :S I ride past there often so if I see it..
A lapse in judgement alright. Last minute friday night date, bag packed (with wiggle gear groan), apparently busy public pedestrian area blah blah. No compromises in future.

  • Looks as if it's thieving season again. Markedly more reports, it seems.

Ruthy, I feel your pain--it took me a good while to get my Fuji, too, as my size wasn't available, either. It's distinctive, hope it turns up!

cheers, yeah took a while to get hold of! what basturds

  • my bf just got a message from a guy from reddit who has taken a photo of the kids that steal bikes round bedford square - he saw them take a bike on goodge street with mere wire cutters:

  • My bike was stolen last thursday from Curtain Road right outside work!

A 1980's white Raleigh racer, 21" with Panasonic colours. I'm devastated and feel like a fucking idiot as I can see it all day from work and it was stolen in broad daylight.

I'm new to this and don't know how to upload a photo?

    cheers

  • I borrowed this photo from another user (sorry/thanks) but I didn't have a photo of mine ready. Its pretty much my bike but mine is smaller 21" with white grip tape too/ white seat/ yellow back wheel and is not a fixie.

If anyone sees it please give me a shout.

    Thankyou

are thieves targetting girls by the name of ruth here? hope you find it your bike - i am going to brick lane at the weekend to look for mine so that may be your best bet.

  • It would seem so....bunch of wankers!

I looked for mine over the weekend at brick lane but no luck. It might also be worth checking london fields on a Saturday, there's a guy that chains bikes to a tree by the toilets and sells em £40 a pop.

I just got a call from a mate saying they spotted a guy on my bike down by pudding mill lane. I'm going to check now with a couple of locks, so I guess mine is possibley already sold.

    Boooo

good luck with yours, I'll keep an eye out

  • so sad, this thread :'(

@ ruthy, i see you finally figured out which bike would fit you & now this happens... i feel sick!

    i know :'(

  • positive news at the moment - the bike shop i got the bike from can get me the exact same bike by saturday with 10% off given the situation, and my work can help me with cash via a loan - so i it's all not bad - and everyone has been so nice about it, so thank you so much. not sure what to do though and whether to wait till i've trawled the market for my wee bike..........

  • so r u gonna buy the exact same one? how do you look like? in case i see someone with the old bike and punch him in the face, wouldn't want to break your nose!
got mine stolen on Broadway mkt last year (will never go back there ever), i share the pain!

  • sorry to hear about your bike, that's shit. i live near broadway and i think it's a bit of a hotspot :( if you see a short oriental girl with a paul frank skull helmet who looks a bit woeful at the moment, that's me - please don't hit me, but definitely punch anyone else!

  • that bike was my perfect bike, i dont think i could get another type. weep.

  • ^ I saw you put a "Stolen" notice on Gumtree but that is one of the places your bike could have popped up on for sale and allowed attempted recovery from the scrotes.

Perversely your notice might actually be counter-productive.

  • Good luck recovering your bikes, Ruth and Ruth!

  • Poor luck all, hope you manage to recover your steeds.

I'd advise anyone against locking their bike anywhere in London for more than 10 minutes if out of sight.

this looks like it might belong to someone!?

  • ^ Blatantly nicked!

  • Stolen from the council bike stands outside the park opposite Sadlers Wells. Built in San Francisco 2 years ago, been with me there, here, then a year in Tokyo. It wasn't the greatest bike but I loved it. Back in London 2 weeks and some piece of shit gets his leprous mitts on it. I hope he dies.

Anyway, first post. Nice to meet you guys.
