Stolen from the council bike stands outside the park opposite Sadlers Wells. Built in San Francisco 2 years ago, been with me there, here, then a year in Tokyo. It wasn't the greatest bike but I loved it. Back in London 2 weeks and some piece of shit gets his leprous mitts on it. I hope he dies.
Says a lot about keeping a bike in London really! I hope you get it back, it's quite distinctive.

Build in San Francisco, I assumed by Mission Cycles?

It seems the tealeaf scumbags have come out of hibernation with all the sunshine judging by the number of posts in this thread over the past couple of weeks. Keep em safe (as you can) people.
it's not the number of scumbags that came out, but the number of cyclists who daren't risk getting their arse wet during winter who come out when it's summer.

Aye, and right on the back of my gorgeous metallic pink 80s Puch fixie conversion being nicked from inside my apartment building in Belgravia. Belgravia! Nowhere is safe.
Kirk at Mission was legend about it though - I had it 4 days after I called them.

Anyway, first post. Nice to meet you guys.
Nice picture. Shame about the loss!

^ Blatantly nicked!
'Cash In Hand Before Test Ride'. FFS.
He's probably had people ride away from him before ...

I don't quite understand that--what did you have four days after calling them?

My banana bike. Just after the last one was nicked, I went to SF for a week and while I was there called Mission up and asked for a yellow bike. I think you'll agree, they delivered.

Oh, I see, sorry. The reference to Belgravia threw me. I take it that there's a Belgravia in SF, too.

My lovely old pink bike got nicked from the common parts of my apartment in Belgravia, SW1. Then I went to SF for a week, and while I was there I got the yellow one and brought it back to Canary Wharf, where you see it above.
Looking back on it, that every bike I've had since the Harry Quinn I had when I was 12 has been nicked or destroyed in a car accident, bar one. Is this normal?

This one http://www.decathlon.co.uk/EN/sk-625-53433483/ and yeah, I know. With a lock like that I'm asking for it etc etc. It wasn't a great bike by any means, but still sucks to lose it.
Is there a thread here which identifies the best locks? I just bought a replacement and should probably try to keep hold of it a bit tighter.
-
• #3914
Yeah any bike thats stolen sucks, i feel for you. Just so people can undersatnd which locks are being cut.
this should help http://www.lfgss.com/thread17938.html (locks that work)

Went down Wimbledon market Saturday am. On leaving this guy stopped me asking about his m/bike he had just brought and if it was any good. £100 for a MINT Specialised hardrock Sport. Small, blue, poss ladies model with slicks. Can't recall what year but way tooooooooo cheap for that bike. Anyone with a bike recently nicked may be worth poppin down there. (Do your weekly fruit and veg shop too! so not a wasted journey).

sorry to hear of all these losses
perhaps this will help to let off steam?

Given that the author of that survey is on here, Nunhead Man I'd make sure your spelling is tip top and your grammar is perfect.
Am I wrong or have you found your way here from the EDF? If so, what's your opinion on the squatters?
For non local nerds, Herne Hill police have been accosting youths who've been nicking bikes in HH / Camberwell / Denmark Hill.

I didn't write the survey, though. :)

EDF = East Dulwich Form?
No mate - wrong guess
And typos forward to LCC as I'm sure they will be happy to correct

Hi
My mate had this stolen from Whitechapel area, East London this week. :(
Any info PM my way please!
It's a 2010 Kona Jake the Snake, 56cm, which he had owned for all of about 3 weeks.
Cheers.

Possibly to tell us what lock did he use, and what locking technique was employed?
Maybe he tried Brick Lane this weekend? He would have had a good chance of seeing it there.

So, just throwing this out there.. I made a website to host profiles of stolen bikes like these.
Upload some pics and the vital stats and some contact info..
- The pics go into a nice block of images on the front page
- New entries are distributed via RSS with a link to the details
- You get a permanent link to your profile you can post elsewhere
The idea is to get the photos together to keep the ol visual memory ticking over, and get wider distribution.
missingbikes.comIt's pretty bare because I haven't mentioned it anywhere yet. Just one entry - my stolen bike from the other page. Would appreciate anyone with a few mins and a pinched bike to upload a photo etc to get things moving.
Still straightening a few trivial things out - and I have a couple of ideas for improvements - but I think it's good to go now. Have at it.
Edit: feel free to pm me with questions or mockery.
Just added an iframe embed option. Details in the FAQ.

you mean this?
-
• #3924
Yeah, but not reliant on the site owner posting the listings - the last article there is from 2008. Missing Bikes is DIY. The map is a good idea though..
