  • Sorry to hear about your bike ruthy will keep my eyes peeled.

  • thanks Ruthy thats a great help, i will keep a look out as well

  • 2010 Focus Cayo with Cole rear wheel and FSA front fitted with MKS GR9 flat pedals. Nicked from the bike stands at Notting Hill Gate tube station (south side of street - between the two exits) between 6:10pm and 8:45pm today (Friday).

Serial number stamped into rear dropout: 548054702
Frame and front wheel locked to stand with abus steel-o-flex (missing). Knew I should have taken the d-lock from work but bag was loaded. Ah well live and learn.

You lock that thief magnet up outside at all, let alone for 3 hours outside a tube station with a shitty cable lock? Thieves are scum but you don't need to make it easy for them. :S
I ride past there often so if I see it..

  • Ive had my 2 month old condor pista stole from my house in bethnal green. should have know it wouldnt be safe - even inside my own house!!

Cream 61cm frame, miche chainset and wheels. lovely bike. any information gratefully received.

    thanks

  • Have you tried talking to the building manager where it was locked up? they may have removed it from the railings

  • no, it was locked up outside my work where i've left other bikes before and i know the security guards - it wasn't on railings

  • Hall the best of luck to you ruthy, my bike was stolen last Saturday. Hope you have more luck than me :(

  • Ruthy, console yourself with the knowledge that no good will become the person who stole your steed. Karma works.
    Chin up.

  • was that your lock in the pic?
if so you make stealing your bike too easy.

  • sorry to hear that ruthy. it is a really gutting feeling.

i hope you are reunited with your little bike.

    good luck.

  • cheers everyone am proper gutted but will follow all the advice given as it's such a wee bike it must be pretty noticeable :'( spent 3 months looking for the right fit too. hope u find your bike too miji and I hope the bastards rot in hell

  • That's hard luck Ruthy- especially after all your researches. I've heard Bedford Square can be a bit of an thief's hunting ground. Hopefully you are insured. Good luck.

  • Oh no. Also being vertically challenged I know how difficult it is to get bikes to fit. I will vote for whichever party brings in capital punishment for bike thieves. I would like them to hang from the lampost nearest the last bike they stole. Should put some thieves off (like farmers hanging dead crows on fences . . . ) When I lived in NY a bike thief was u-locked by his neck to a lampost & had the words 'bike thief' written on his forehead - don't know what happened to him but I'm sure it wasn't pretty . . .

Will really keep my eye out - don't those dozy thieves realise how small the market is for this bike (literally!!)

  • Before I opened the link I thought that the 43cm was a typo. Bad luck, hope you find it.

worst thing is, it is probably a bunch of idiotic kids who don't give a shit - aaaargh. nasty info about the thief but i can't help thinking he had it coming......i'm just hoping that the thieves are stupid (which they've proved already) and try and sell it down brick lane/on gumtree this weekend - you're right, they're going to have a hard job now that i have pretty much half of london on the look out! it's such perfect weather for cycling too - this morning, was on the top deck of the 55 looking out at all the happy cyclists :(

  • Sorry to hear about your loss :( How long did you leave it out? I only ask coz I have an ABUS on my Boardsman...

    hope you get it back.

  • i cycled into work, then took it to the new evans store on mortimer street at about half 1, left it back outside work at 2 and finished work at 6, by which point it had disappeared and there was just the remains of my lock on the floor :'( maybe put two locks on your bike? i've heard that's the best thing, i was just too trusting. if you have the abus gold motorbike lock that lots of people have you might be alright?

  • Yeah maybe Ill take your advice and switch to two locks.
Fuckkers have got balls to try that in daylight - it cant have been easy.
Hows CCTV in that area (you might get lucky and ID em) ?

Saw this lot a while back, and by the thread responses quite well known. Not sure if that helps or not but probably the same little bastards.

  • Never lock up with a cable lock, they're made of butter and are softer than a Morph's gay mate after a deep tissue massage.

  • Looks as if it's thieving season again. Markedly more reports, it seems.

Ruthy, I feel your pain--it took me a good while to get my Fuji, too, as my size wasn't available, either. It's distinctive, hope it turns up!

  • no CCTV outside work but have placed a report with the police so maybe they'll have something

  • does your abus lock have a protection scheme like the kryptonites do? If you can provide them with your lock you might be able to get some money back...

I guess I've learnt the hard way :( such an idiot. But how about the abus gold motorbike lock that so many people have? double lock for me next time and a 'keep off u fuckers' sign
