  • Yeah, but I read all your posts with a German accent.

    Me too!
or, more accurately, in my head I hear Oliver's voice reading them.

  • That is absolutely hysterical!!!!

    "The Magic Carpet':

  • Yep that's my baby.
    sobs

  • This is interesting. A video of the trial at City Hall where you sat on a bike and went along the future super highway.
    YouTube- London Bike Superhighway mockup

and watch the surprise at the end!

  • Its 50:14 !

  • I love the fact it need to show the speed to show it's a 'super' highway for bicycle, what a trollop.

edited - just seen the end, the cheeky little blighter.

  • cool video Alien. Was it a repost?

I know I put it on twitter, pretty sure I put it on a thread here, but no matter. Eminently suitable in both threads :)

  • Cool! (not the superhighway)

  • and watch the surprise at the end!

    HAHAH Amazing!

It was a repost--and this was at the Cycle Show. They put the same set-up into City Hall later.

  • I spoke to two people outside the Tooting Bec highway last night. They were monitoring traffic behaviour around the "magic carpet". More of the magic carpet will be put down tonight on the other side of the road.

They are also using different cover on different locations to test which one work best.

I told them what I thought but that we will have to wait and see how it works.

Apparently there is a big resurfacing programme about to start.

  • What the fuck? I rode on one of those blue thing, and they're *slipperly** even on the dry.

*a small section of it though.

    you rode on a smurf?

    shame on you.

  • you rode on a smurf?

    shame on you.

    Smurfette is hot though

  • The only chick in the village... bet she'd know her way around a pair of blue balls.

  • Hey, I saw some of this blue stuff today in westferry. It was sitting on top of the existing green stuff. Fucking pointless exercise.

In Oz there are these things on the side of the highway... they are like little strips of raised paint that run perpendicular to the flow of traffic. When a vehicle runs over them, they make an audible noise and you feel a vibration in your arse, which is quite nice. They are designed to wake drivers who drift off to sleep on the long boring stretches of road there. Never driven highways here so dont know if they exist.

Wonder whether them things should be on the edge of the bike lanes.

spoke to the TFL peeps at the Kensington & Chelsea Forum, they did say this as well.

Westminster cyclists have got hold of the Route 8 report, here it is : http://www.westminstercyclists.org.uk/CSH8.pdf - it's worth a read.

2M and 3M wide lanes planned in that location and more interesting bits. a fair few 'considering' words so I view those as 'options' that won't be taken up.

Worth a look - compare with these 'test' areas..

Those are in France as well.
